Hi Ross, have been trying to play online but just can't get a game against a non super team. Is there any chance you will still be patching these out, I think the online community would come back to this game if so?

on a side note played a guy called tommygun (650,000xp) the other night with my standard bombers side, he had a custom super team and was playing with two players. the thing that annoyed me was every time i would mark the ball he would keep bumping my player till he was off the mark then tackle me, so i had to either quickly didpose of the ball or give him a holding the ball free kick. hopefully this can be fixed in the next version
The custom team thing was probably the worst idea I've ever seen in a game. Keep that rubbish for offline modes.

been a while since i've been on here. How are things going? anyone up for a game on ps3?

**** me the bump is ****in' annoying in this game.

Excuse my French but I'm getting sick of versing people where it seems there is a mutual agreement not to bump for 3 qtrs of a game but then come the 4th qtr if the scores are close they decide to play like a cheap **** by bumping every single time they get the chance.

I know it's not unstoppable and there are ways to counter it but that aside, it's a) ****ing frustrating b) looks like shit (referring to the animation) c) completely takes away from the flow of the game d) is way too easy to perform (should only work when you are actually in a correct position to bump) and e) stops you being able to get a quick kick away, which would be fine if it wasn't so easy to bump.

I shouldn't have to handball every time I pick the ball up because opposition players can bump me from 2-3 meters away which stuffs my kicks. As I said before, a bump should only be able to be done if your player is actually in a correct position to realistically bump. If your not in the correct position to bump but you attempt to bump anyway, then a small animation should play which shows your player slightly stumbling from the missed bump attempt, rendering them uncontrollable for just a split-second as punishment for not tackling instead (this sort of happens sometimes but looks terrible and glitchy and doesn't happen anywhere near enough).

Spam bumping (especially in the last quarter of a close game when they haven't thrown a bump for the entire first 3 qtrs), and the custom teams are just killing this game for me. Really needs another patch...but yeah, we won't go there. Anyway, other than these (fairly major) things, the game is just as fun as I remember it from October last year when I last played it.

Thank god footy's back...

I have a new guess at what is going to happen, probably around the start of the season:

- BA are going to release a patch updating the squads and fixing the online exploits
- the PC version is released, already with this patch
- a new game is announced for 2013

Lock it in the vault, reg!

International Cricket 2010 and NBA 2K games tend to have series/weekly squad updates by forum users uploaded as a .rar patch, and all you have to do is unzip, put on USB and put in PS3. Surely can happen with this game too.

No, every patch has to be tested by Sony/Microsoft's quality department. The Developer also has to pay the console companies for every patch they load up.

For what you described, you would need to have a modded console.

I just want to make a comment totally left field.

When you get the hang of the gameplay, controls and get a gameplan happening, then get online and get an opponent who is also competant with no lag, AFL live can be a truly remarkably fun, competitive sports game and up there with the best if not exceeding them.

My online record is not good but I still genuinely love a good, close game of AFL live and it does a brilliant job of recreating our beloved game of Aussie Rules.

Put the few diggling issues aside, this game online is totally awesome.

Add me on PS3 if yu want to have a kick sometime. I'm loving it.

Cheers,

Ice9ine

Agreed, no lag, no super team and a player half competent meant for an amazing experience.

Pity everyone bumps and has super teams,..

Pity I still cant use my updated rosters in any season mode..

Found an NBA Live 10 roster update patch.. basically involved copying over a sys-data file..

Perhaps someone can make one for this game so I can reset my rosters and hope season play will work again..

Agreed.

I have found myself using the bump when I have a player running full speed at an opponent. Every time I hope to see this huge hit and am disappointed. How about some big hits in the next game Ross :D I'd happily cop a free kick if I hit the opponent high but it'd be awesome. That's about the only time I will use the bump unless my opponent is using it constantly, then I get annoyed and return the favour

Big hits and shepherds off the ball are something that I would love to see also. A risk/reward scenario with related outcomes including the ball spilling, injuries, high tackle calls, etc... are the sorts of things we've talked about in the office.

Good stuff Ross!
As mentioned in the wishlist thread I think it really important to create a 'tap' button to keep the ball from going out near the boundary. If it's the same as spoil, I presume you could work the code similar to pressing L2 and the right stick to tap the ball when it's on the ground.

This would work well when you have a player chasing the ball that's running straight to the line, to knock it straight back in to play or up the line. Rather than watching your player pick up the ball and attempt an overhead hand pass once your already over the line.
The tapping would make for awesome goals if the ball was running in for a point and your nifty fwd pocket could tap the ball towards the goal square and have another player soccer through a goal.

Hate to argue with the supermod but I have done this with IC 2010 as well. I have had my Ps3 since new and never modded it.

Also, FIFA update their squad ratings weekly if you suscribe (fee involved). Is this worth investigating?

Someone commented a couple of weeks ago that with a custom season all the games are played at night, and the finals are all at the MCG and are elimination based. They dont use the finals system.

Can anyone confirm this?

If this is the case then this is just mind boggling unbelievable. How hard is it?????? Jeez

This would really sap my motivation to play this again....

Also if I bother to update all the lists and add GWS will it work in a custom season?

I think you're talking more about save file manipulation. Which is completely different if we're talking about patching fixes, etc.

All that you could realistically offer with a save file is updated rosters, even then you're relying on the person being completely impartial. Also, that would disable trophies.

Anyway, I gave AFL Live a go again for the first time since FIFA 12 came out. Surprised to say it held up fairly well. I got into 2 online games fairly fast, only a couple of minute wait. Both teams were customs unfortunately, but neither were super overpowered or anything.

I won both games. The 2nd one had some shocking lag come in halfway through the 2nd quarter, basically lead to a back and forth of lag contributed goals. I was up by 4 goals going into the last quarter and then he got 3 VERY fast in the last and I thought that was it. Then suddenly it went my way and I had 3 goals for the win.

Just played an online game for the first time in months and it Lagged sooooo bad. Almost felt like quoting but was just happy to find someone within 5 mins. Custom team of course with user name Zenit-to-Nadir which would explain the lag if he was playing in Russia!

Hate custom teams. :(

He was the one I got in the 2nd game.

Fantastic. I'd love to see this brought into the next game. Currently there is a bit of an awkward moment when two players run at the ball from opposite sides. Hope you guys are able to come up with a way to implement this without it being abused.

My biggest issue with bumping in AFL Live is that it causes so many issues that it's just not worth including in the next iteration. Honestly, how often do you see players bump in matches, outside of shepherding? There wouldn't be many in your average game.

By completely removing "controlled bumping" (as in, AI shepherding remains), you will avoid all of these annoying issues at an extremely minor cost of realism. If BigAnt manage to get a solid physics and collision system going sometime down the track, I'll be more than happy to see it return, but until then the game is almost unplayable with it included.

Maybe not in the Saints flood, but it happens a lot.
