That doesn't make any kind of sense. So you go around buying up clubs as you move around the board? Might work for Soccer but AFL club are owned by members. Not to mention that it'll offend a large number of player right off the bat depending on where you rank their clubs.

If you were going to do it I'd probably choose players to buy rather than clubs.

Mayfair- Gary Ablett Jr
Park Lane- Chris Judd
Bond Street- Nick Riewoldt
Oxford Street- Jonathan Brown

Old Kent Road- Brendan Fevola
That is a much better idea. Ranking the clubs is all too subjective for mine.

There was a limited edition Geelong themed one for 2007 which you may be able to get some ideas from as well. I haven't opened mine, so can't tell you myself, but IIRC I think someone posted pics of it in the Geelong board when it came out.
There was also a limited edition Adelaide one which came out 3 or 4 years ago now.

Perhaps you could do an Australian rules one instead?
Have the four sides of the board represent the football states of Tasmania, Western Australia, South Australian and Victoria.

The stadiums would be North Hobart Oval, Subiaco Oval, AAMI Stadium and the MCG.

The properties would be clubs.
Victoria will have the big 4 + one other
South Australia will have Port Adelaide, Norwood, Sturt, Central Districts + 2 Others
Western Australia will have East Fremantle, South Fremantle, West Perth, East Perth + 2 Others
Tasmania will have Clarence, North Hobart, Glenorchy, North Launceston and Sandy Bay

All this feedback is much appreciated guys! I have set up a poll based on my original decision to use clubs as the properties. I will conduct other polls later on in the game's development.

This is just a prototype I'm considering. If I decide to go ahead with the idea I will first consult companies which will be affected by the development of the game

I liked the idea of sorting them by premierships, but remember, IT'S THE AFL MONOPOLY GAME, not VFL, or whatever

AFL Monopoly was released in '99 or thereabouts. Teams ranked on ladder positions in that year, except the Premiership Cup was $400 and the Ansett Australia was $350. The four bottom properties were SOO teams, including Allies.

Posted this in another thread but this one seems more appropriate.

The only certainty is that the Kangaroos and the Power would be the cheap streets after go.

I'd say the cheapies would be the Kangaroos and the Power.
Mayfair and Park Lane would be Collingwood and WCE.
The next "rich group" would be a selection from Essendon, Adelaide and Hawthorn I would say. Everyone else would fit it somewhere else.
Richmond would be a train station, plenty of connecting routes run through there.

Brisbane would be a utility. None of their players want to be there. Power station? Riewoldt would have to be the Water Works!

I would say do teams, as you can make it less objective then players. For example, you would have to rank players on their ability, but then you hit a problem. Do you choose the best 20, or do you put some dud/rookie as old kent road?

where as a team, you could have it so no one could dispute it, as factual things. like afl premierships, total premierships, 2010 position etc

I'm glad you guys are seeing my point. Placing teams based on their performances rather than preference or bias solves a lot of problems. Using players, my opinion on the best players could be different to anyone elses. (Brendon Goddard, absolute star)

Could also just use the AFL grounds.

Mayfair- MCG
Park Lane- Etihad Stadium
Bond Street- AAMI Stadium
Oxford Street- Pattersons Stadium
Regent Street- Waverley Park
Piccadilly- The Gabba
Coventry Street- The SCG
Leicester Square- Skilled Stadium
Trafalgar Square- Aurora Stadium
Fleet Street- TIO Stadium
Strand- Manuka Oval
Vine Street- Visy Park
Marlborough Street- Victoria Park
Bow Street- Windy Hill
Northhumberland Avenue- Punt Road
Whitehall- Glenferrie Oval
Pall Mall- Whitten Oval
Pentonville Road- Moorabbin Oval
Euston Road- Junction Oval
The Angel, Islington- Lake Oval
Whitechapel Road- Fremantle Oval
Old Kent Road- Alberton Oval

I've got a West Coast Eagles Monopoly somewhere. Not sure where when why or how I got it. The "Mayfair" and "Park Lane" players are Cousins and Judd!

Just pulled out the Collingwood version

Negative is they didnt bother with footy versions of the tokens but kept the originals

Coleman and Brownlow replaced the utilities

Had the captain, coach, president and former captain in place of stations but the stadiums is the best bet

Tribunal fine replaced the taxes and home and away instead of chance and community chest

Players is way too subjective, obviously a club version there isnt much choice but Medhurst and Presti were the bottom 2!

Some examples of cards

Win money
Sponsorship and endorsement, finish in the 8, nominated for award, win award, play 100 games, attend a charity function, BOG, collect money for GF tickets, named captain, mark or goal of the day

Pay money
Blood rule, melee, fail a fitness assessment, reported by the umpire, injury, holding the ball, player insurance

Just some ideas

no Buddy:S?

I have the old one where they just ranked the clubs in order of where they finished the year before. The last three went to Victoria, SA, WA and The Allies. I think the utilities were Channel 7 and Brownlow Medal. Also, instead of houses and hotels there were terraces and stadiums.

Port_Adelaide_Monopoly.jpg

Just to inform you guys, I am hoping to improve on the quality of this edition of Monopoly

You mean like this?

Broadmeadows.jpg

I have the AFL monopoly that was released in either 1999 or 2000. It ranked team values on previous year performance (Collingwood was the cheapest, I remember that much). I'm pretty sure it had stadiums instead of the railways.

Sandy Bay unfortunatly haven't exixted for 13 years. Were killed off by a number of reasons.

I would go Burnie. Big 3 South, biggest north, and the big north west clubs.
