why do you careImagine the earnings that could have been earned if the American public had understood it and that coverage continued today.
good. the game goes overseas at any great scale the Australian comp is dead.Until that is addressed Aussie Rules will never be a serious consideration by a viewing public outside of Australia, it's that simple.
took that more at a (justified) crack at BT being an ocker fool, than anything seriousit will forever be termed a "novelty" only Aussies could possibly get,("that's not a knife matey", chuckle, chuckle.)
I don't know why I care. I guess because I love the game and can't help but feel the world should get to know this great game.a lot of irrelevant stuff there but:
why do you care

haha very much so re the boldedAs far as the dollars go, I imagine the revenue flowing back down to player and fan level, being poured into the game (maybe that's naive).

Yeah I have all these lectures in my head regarding "Economies of Scale". There is some truth to the facts regarding product pricing and economic scale.haha very much so re the bolded
income to the game has increased about a billion fold in the last 15 yearsYeah I have all these lectures in my head regarding "Economies of Scale". There is some truth to the facts regarding product pricing and economic scale.
In theory, just as occurs with other consumer products, the more the product gets taken up by the market and the volume of sales increase the cheaper the product becomes (basically).
Applying that to the AFL would in theory see a fall in costs to the consumer (fans). Reduced ticket prices, improved facilities etc.
Well that's the theory anyway.
Yes, travelling through Africa, Europe and North America, the locals always seems to ask about the goal umpires and signalling for a goal: "How big's ya dick?"How stupid was the AFL getting rid of the coats + hats for the goal umpires?
Basically every American I've ever heard talk about the game mentions the goal umpires.
Hmmm.income to the game has increased about a billion fold in the last 15 years
no aspect of the game is cheaper to the fan than it was before
Ive always found that attitude to be pretty arrogant in general in a "oh how quaint, how do you do that again? Oh thats cute" kind of way. I mean, even a 2 minute bit is worthy of some preliminary journalism that would very easily show that we arent even close to being rugby or what a goal is worth. Instead you get the "carnival freak show" story again and again.Great videos, love Collingworth, "Rugby" and Nathan Fry.
It does seem quite stereotypical of the USA that the broadcasters are really bemused & amused at the idea of different sports being played around the world.
They don't sound much worse than ours..Yeah coz American commentators are so good View attachment 150988
This, precisely this.I don't mind a bit of coverage, but I'd hate for it to take off overseas, especially in the U.S.
Currently we have a sport that we get to watch at the highest possible level, that would quickly end if it was popular over there.
It's interesting cause the AFL has started getting some attention on Deadspin, I think because they're able to take grabs from the FS coverage.Generating interest over here is a MASSIVE up hill battle until it gets some more mainstream coverage.
