From the Geelong Website:
We all know how unpredictable Steve Johnson can be but he was at devastating best against Port. He produced an outstanding first quarter with 11 possessions, four handball receives, three inside 50s and a goal. His brilliance continued for the rest of the match finishing with 33 touches, seven clearances and an impressive nine tackles. There could be an inquest at AFL House if he doesn't receive three Brownlow votes for this performance.

I thought Johnno was BOG but I could understand it if Motlop, Hawkins or Taylor caught the umpires eye.

I’d have had SJ and Boris both on around 18 out of 20 (to use the Carji system) so close was their effectiveness against Port. So I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Boris got the Brownlow BOG vote. Yet you make no mention of Boris.

That’s why I’m not a fan of the Brownlow system of voting. It’s so limited. Having to choose only three players with the number one player seen as three times better than the third placed player is just unrealistic.

There was a terrific Champion Data snapshot of how effective Boris is at setting-up scoring opportunities from his tackling and intercepts in the print edition of the HS today. The guy is a superstar.

This is how the coaches voted:

10 Johnson (Geel)
8 Taylor (Geel)
5 Hawkins (Geel)
3 Enright (Geel)
2 Motlop (Geel)
1 Bartel (Geel)
1 Wingard (Port)
