The Victoria Racing Club is opening up its exclusive members-only areas at Flemington to racegoers who are prepared to pay premium prices, causing outrage among some members who have complained of “bogans” infiltrating.

For the first time at Melbourne Cup Carnival this year, the VRC is selling “premium tickets” to the members’ grandstand and enclosure for Cup Day for $495.
It has also opened up the members-only Nursery car park, behind the Birdcage area, to the public if they buy a ticket to a “car boot party” for $156 a person, with a minimum booking of 10. The booking comes with a slab of Furphy beer.

The ceo of vrc kylie rodgers must have learnt something from her old job at the afl

I don't think bogans are forking out $500 for a ticket.

She claims they are doing this as not enough members turn up on Melbourne Cup Day. Really? It seems hard to believe, but if so, utilise the waitlist.
If the MCC tried something like this the CEO would be out the door quick smart. Do VJC members have any voting rights?

There is no waitlist. Anyone can get nominated and become a full member for $590 per year + joining fee.

Interesting development when purchasing AFLW Grand Final tickets today.

It will not allow you in to the queue unless you are signed in to your account, and if you go to use a different browser, it will say you are already in the queue and warns you that if you join the queue in the new browser, you'll lose your spot in the other browser.

Anyone had the first payment taken deducted but it's not showing up on the invoice when you login?

Yep, my invoice says fully paid with the $40 service fee, no record of memberships at all, but first payment came out the next day or so after their service fee, which has gone up again…

Does anyone have their Gather Round barcode yet? When I log in it just says "will be available by Monday, December 9".
Update: I called and they said they would be sent at midday.
