I do get the point, but disagree with it. Brown and McDonald are two experienced and respectable key forwards.

But I think people are too quick to reference Melbourne as as the case study, but forget Richmond who have been the most dominant team in the AFL for quite a while who had two elite KPF's and a midfield who on paper is similar to ours.
I hear you. It happens every year. Team wins a premiership, therefore, team must have the winning formula.

I do think there is a difference between the concepts of "did it work?" and "would you do it again if another opportunity came up"

Noone can argue that it worked.

But I reckon the dogs would know how incredibly lucky they were. 9 times out of 10 that same trade ends with a dud retiring having wasted picks and a massive salary cap chunk.

I think it was a poor trade that just happened to succeed. Luck of the draw.

For example it would be pretty dumb to think.. we haven't won a flag in 21 years, we should do what the dogs did with Boyd - that's the proven way to win flags.

that is gold jerry, gold!
jesse Ventura used to say about the honky tonk man on commentary.
sometimes gorilla it is better to be lucky than good.
I guess the honky tonk mans wrestling that made him the wwf’s longest intercontinental champion and the bulldogs trade were just strokes of luck.
Fair play- the bombers I guess have had no luck in the decade and a half Adrian has steered the ship.

We have a huge CP issue

Interestingly we won some i50 counts by alot and loss games than loss i50s by alot and won. It's a difficult read.

We've gone all in on our current midfield though, I doubt we bring in a mature age mid type

The amount of first rounders spent and used on Parish, Stringer, McGrath, Langford, Shiel, Caldwell, Perkins means we have to rely on these guys getting the job done. We've gone all in on this group

Other areas are taking too much of a hit if we use another first rounder on another mature age mid outside of the draft

What mature age mid are you referring to?

That was all luck
No it wasn't. He often out worked his opponents to create marking options. He hit packs hard to contest marks, clunking a couple. He was decent in the ruck when he was there. He kicked a set shot from the boundary and swooped on a loose ball nearly fifty out after Buddy had been brought to ground, and snapped truly. He had a great game and made his own luck.

what if we swing Laverde forward?

What's the story on Ben Ronke? RFA? Too injured? Doesn't work hard enough? Could he blossom under Rutten?

Well in pro wrestling there always has to be a villain who the referees never allow to win so I guess your point stacks up

How about we actually see Langford become good before we ask for another.

I mean, the coaches rate him, he was on track to finish top 4 in the bnf before injuries and still finished 7th.

Are you keen on taking the reigns from the Truckosaurus?

That’s the name I’ve given our coaching panel just then that is definitely going to become a thing.

2022 will be Hurley's last year. He wears number 18. Ben King Dons the Sash in 2023. Takes the number 18. Continues the Lloyd legacy, his mentor, as the Bomber prophecy foretold. We win back-to-back in 2024 and 2025. All is right in the world.

I think my pants moved

Jack Billings?

darcy macpherson surely looks like a good value pickup, due to our need for small forwards
