Tomlinson sucks, he’s a terrible defender and is in no world better than Ridley.

One on one I would say he is . Ridley would not be in the side f it was down to just one on one defensive ability.

Tomlinson is okay. Good defensively for the most part but struggles disposal wise.

Ridley is a medium defender, not a key defender.

I say go after English.

I think we could extract the best out of it him in the way we've done with McKay.

I don't want flashy personality and occasional athletic. I want boring, part-of-the-game-plan, consistent. Boring is what we need more of.

Hes only had one "shoot the lights out" season, outside of last year hasnt ever ranked in the top 150 players in the comp. If we dont think Bryan is the answer I dont think english would be either.
Im on the ruck is overrated bandwagon nowadays. If you dont have a genuine all rounder like Gawn/Marshall who have great tapwork and also get around the park and take marks/use footy well, I would rather we go with a guy who is physical, can take a good mark and uses the footy relatively well like Briggs rather than a dominant tap ruck.

Ridley is not a key defender.

Although I do agree that Tomlinson sucks. But so does Laverde so?

Dead set nil all draw between Tomlinson and Lav. Both are duds turned key defenders. Neither improve your side but can “hold” down a spot if need be. They are both the kind of list clogging depth that hurts your club because they are never moved on.

I’ve seen the impact opposition ruck dominance had on our clearances against Norf and Richmond.

We need a competitive ruck.

Xerri and Nank are two of the most physical rucks going. them and Briggs are the type of rucks I want not the English/Grundy types. With the new rules allowing players to physically engage before the ball is thrown up these sorts of guys are having a big impact this year. Plus they impose themselves around the ground too.
The GWS v Carlton game was a great example, TDK is the purer tap ruck and has a great leap, in previous years he would have been on top for whole game like he was in first quarter but from the first bounce of 2nd quarter Briggs turned the game by physically engaging him every ruck contest, he refused to let him jump.

You have basically just described a great depth player.

I love how the AFL ****ed over Matthew Primus for doing this and being so dominant.

Guessing Ainsworth has told GWS he’s leaving… shoulder knock… still to consult specialist… season over!?!?

Gold Coast pressure forward Ben Ainsworth has been officially ruled out of the season after injuring his shoulder during the clash with Port Adelaide.

GC SUNS Head Physiotherapist Lindsay Bull said the small forward would consult a specialist later this week to determine the next course of action.

“Ben sustained a knock to his shoulder during the match which was assessed further post-match,” Bull said.

“He has unfortunately suffered a high-grade AC joint injury which means Ben will be unavailable for the remainder of the season.”

Yeah.

I asked a long time ago about if any stat heads had any idea if the AFL had a +/- stat they kept in the depths of the Champion Data banks. I suspect he'd be pretty well off on that also.

With such an even top 25 draft pool

Its hard to know if a pick around 10-12 will give enough confidence of being ahead of the bid or not

Youd think there would be enough clubs looking to drift back and maybe get extra the following year for example

Gold Coast 8 and 9 will be available and we may need some points

Rookie list to be extended from 3 to 5 years in some situations (guys who haven’t played too many games and need more time to develop).
This may be helpful for Tex and Baldwin who would normally have to be upgraded at the end of this year.
