In this thread, ploz provide sauces for anything you claim as fact. It can be specific such as an article link or Neale's sisters cousins hairdresser or vague such as "own sauces" but ploz avoid blanket statements with no reference point, it makes people antsy.

I just heard Pav on 9 that Geelong want 19 and future 3rd.

Call Clarke’s manager. Tell him we believe that Geelong are not even being serious. Trade 22 for O’mera / Mitchell. Don’t care who. Just send a message

to be perfectly honest we have achieved one trade and Geelong has asked for extreme overs for Clarke .
We should not do an Eagles type deal and pay overs . We can wait a year and get him for something reasonable so long as he doesn't sign a contract extension.
I would rather go into the draft with all our picks and draft some very good young players that will strengthen our player stocks .We have seen in the U19's state games some very exciting new talent . Sheldrick, Van Rooyen ,Tunstill, Dittmar, Avery , Paton ,Erasmus, Williams ,Amis , Benning and Motlop to name a few . I would seriously put in a bid for Wanganeen /Milera and Borgoyne.
Take your pick they are all the type of players we can use .
My first 2 would be Erasmus and Sheldrick followed by Amis and Van Rooyen. Motlop will go early IMHO and we won't be allowed to match the bid . Let him go now and get him back in 2 years time😃

To be honest regardless of the end result we stuffed this.
Shouldn’t have done 27 and future 3rd for 22 unless it was 100% in the bank.

Then should’ve just done 22 and future 3rd to show Clark he’s valued.

Getting 3rd rounders are so easy. It’s inconsequential.

Will wait to see end deal but with this particular deal we haven’t played our cards well at all.

We cant burn the first two picks on midfielders, one of them needs to be JVR or Amiss or we will see them taken away.

Don't think it makes a lot of difference. Clearly Geelong weren't going to accept #27 even with a future 3rd attached. Upgrading it to #22 puts us in a good position to either trade it for Clark or take it to the draft. I'll only be annoyed if #19 gets used - highly doubt that will happen. Will be interested to hear the real story of what went on after it is all over. What the media says rarely correlates with reality.

Colin Young hey,

I don't think I've seen a player suffer such a significant amount of passive reputational damage than Rory Lobb in the last 48 hours. From pundits to the average football fan, everyone is making judgement of his significant salary and his subsequent output.

As that contract falls over, we're now seeing Bobby Hill endure the same thing.

As much as it's painfully clear that Young's attempts to force these trades are serving a self interest, you'd think it's common decency to consider the player's reputation and public image... and if he was blindsided by the blowback, then he clearly has a poor read on the current industry climate.

I can't be strong enough on this, Colin Young's actions and managerial nous is insipid and embedded in greed. Lobb and Hill would not have proceeded with these requests had Young not assured them it would be achievable. On every front he's failed and left Lobb & Hill to deal a new amount of unwanted pressure.

I don’t doubt that CY had a part to play but how do we know that it started with him? How do we know that it wasn’t Lobb who floated the idea out there? At any point Lobb could have said, “I’m committed to Freo for now. Let’s wait until next year.” Who knows? Maybe he did say this. Maybe CY pressed him to seek his options. Unless there’s something out there that I haven’t seen, it’s all speculation on our part. It seems to fit the narrative to pin it all on CY and he makes a good villain in the story, but it takes two to tango and I think Lobb is likely culpable in this too.

I'm going one step further, this Wingard, Lobb, O'Meara stuff has been played up deliberately for the doco and everyone knows they are going nowhere
If thats what they're doing, ya think the players are getting paid to act? I'd be bloody asking instead of giving them free labour lol

Not strong enough for my liking - we should set fire to pick 22 right in front of them and then throw it off a cliff. F**k em.

Don't buy into this sensationalism, Geelong said 19 or 22 + F3. Club knows they need speed and need to buy hope as we are the only club to lose supporters this season. My guess is we'll cough up the F3.

We lost members?

Peter Bell seemed to confirm that it was Lobb who was the driving force of this trade after hanging out with his GWS buddies who were here after the finals and that Young was just acting in the interest of his client.
