Grant Thomas on FC last night when pressed suggested that a reason that Reiwoldt might not of polled as well as he could have was due to his "pretty boy" image:eek:. He would have to be the ugliest pretty boy going around

I also laughed at this statement. My actual response was "are you shtn me".

Seriously though what a ridiculous statement to make, as if other AFL players are threatened enough by Reiwoldts amazing looks to not vote for him as payback.

Nah they are just jealous that he still has hair and Swans votes were for shits and giggles.

I think it's the MVP part that is confusing. Key forwards/defenders are considered more valuable than midfielders. They should call it the Players' Player of the Year award.
Totally agree with that. Realistically the most valuble player in the comp is always the best CHF. However, it's voted for who they think is the best player each season, so yes change the name.

Leigh Matthews, Wayne Carey & Gary Ablett Snr are the best 3 players I have seen play football, all started FAVORITE in BETTING to win Brownlow Medal but all 3 failed to win Brownlow Medal, however all went onto win AFL Players' Association MVP award. Gary Ablett Jnr has started FAVORITE in BETTING to win past 3 BROWNLOW MEDALS including current season & has yet to win won but has gone on to win MVP award 3 years running. To my knowledge I have never known ANY footballer in my time that has been Brownlow Medal favorite 3 years running, please give Gary credit for 3 sublime years of high-class football.

PS. Always have preferred to listen people who speak through pocket rather than their MOUTH, good reason why Saints are Grand Final favorites & Geelong second favorites.

Best of luck to all remaining sides & SUPPORTERS who remain in Finals race.

Everyone is so reactionary here, after round 11 Stevie J was widely accepted as having the best year to that point in time, followed closely by Gablett, Davis, Judd and then Roo. Of those Gablett, Judd and Roo continued their form whilst Swan improved. Those results were hardly a travesty, and yes this is award doesn't actually go to the most valuable, just the best. Otherwise M. Scarlett would have won it.

Ablett probably deserved to win but it was definately surprising that Riewoldt didn't finish higher. Swan hasn't been that good in my opinion.

You would think Ablett would be more of a "pretty boy" and it didn't affect his chances.

Let's not forget Cornflakes has a massive stiffy for Reiwoldt

At least Jonathan Brown did not win most couragous again.. that was becoming a joke.

I am seriously trying to see your point of view, but I just can not.

Browney is as courageous as they come, Saturday night underlined it again.

Anyway, congratulations to Ablett, 3 in a row.

Congratulations to Troy Selwood, no mean feat to be nominated as Brisbane's most courageous ahead of Browney:thumbsu:

Oh, and this thread should be bookmarked for when BF goes into meltdown after the Brownlow saying umpires can not vote properly etc etc.

Umpires are no good, players now also seem to be no good.

They should just award the Brownlow to the BF Medal winner;)

ShirtLifter, shouldn't you be off with the other Hawk supporters thinking up excuses for when your team misses the 2010 finals ?

Nah, i'll just watch the cats stuff up another opportunity for a flag.
Considering the All Australian side last year was Geelong, how could they possibly lose the GF.
