as for grande it looks like they might be the north side club that takes over winning the spoon. i know they get assistance from the army boys at some points but i was not convinced at what i have seen down there. good luck to rowdy and i hope he can get some wins.

mayne well i intend on getting down there next week, not hearing much about their side so should be interesting to see if its the same faces just a year older?

:D A soccer reporter reporting on the local afl with a bias towards aspley?? Will be humourous should his predictions turn out to be as accurate as his spelling, Backwardsbomber06

Palm beach and Surfers to wrap up the top two spots.. Raffle for the rest. No offence to Lenny.. but unless Springwood bought 18 new players to compliment the gallant under 18 side they had in last year, where else could you see the spoon going?

Mayne also gave palmy a real shake last season, and still have C.Brown , Ferguson and the Housego stars, who couldnt build around that?

As for grange, the unknown wildcard?? (along with noosa as always)
with the leading ruckman on the northside- Mark Pennington feeding the ball to a new onball brigade.. should be in the mix against the rotating midfields of palmy , burleigh and co.

Let the season begin

Apparently Grange play Wynnum in a couple of weeks in a practice match, so if they are going to be thereabouts, you'd think they should give the Vikings a touchup by at least 10-15 goals??

cheers for that, i heard Wynnum had a practice match against toowoomba on the weekend, has anyone heard any reports from that game?

Wynnum won that one by about 15 goals. Toowoomba played Yeronga in another practice match this week and won by 13 points. I'm pretty sure all teams were trialling different players and options, so I don't know what you can read into any of that.

How does everyone think burleigh will go this year any new recruits?

I don't have a crystal ball B.b..

What i would invite you to consider is that Wynumm may have been fed very well from the redlands/morningside fringe list, which will only strengthen their list, from last year's grand final winning team in that division. William Broome is THE player to watch if he is still having a run around there.
As Big_Girl pointed out in the earlier thread , grange have been apparently been strengthened by some defence force recruits (1 or 2 ? ) and should be improved from the hit and miss, youthfullness that was the make up of their side last year

Given that its a practice match, I'd be quite interested to see the result.

Do you have any idea as to what other practice games are on Broman?

Wynnum will give Grange a touch up, they have such a strong list of players, lots of ex aflq A grade player and reserve grade players. Broome has been a gun for years and if he was 13 years younger he would have been snapped up by GC17! Probably the most unfulfilled QLD talent of the last 20 years.

pretty bold statements there. 13 years younger lol....

really? where'd you hear this? any idea on why?
Knee is no good will be doing some coaching with the suncoast power this year.

also on wynnum being as good as people are saying, they where very lucky to win last year, lets see how they go this year with aspley and caloundra looking good. who would be there AFLQ a grade players at wynnum other than ASH, PLEASE ADD SO I CAN LAUGH.

aspley are going to be a better team than most people think this year in the top division. the hornets wont make finals. but i can garuntee people around the club wouldnt be thinking about finals this year. they will cause an upset or 3. you just never know in this comp.

i think this year. it will be flag or bust for the mighty siders imo. they would as hungry as ever to get that flag they should have got last year.

hey damo...was browsing the thread and saw the comment "the flag they should have got last year" comment....not sure what thats abt but have got a feeling they over achieved by finishing second if u look where they came from

You obviously don't know their list!

And you do, acuguy? :D

Caloundra will be the benchmark this year in that particular league, the scholars have been whispering.. A decent coach, Big,Bad,Bustling, Barry O'brien, the journeyman of Qld lower grade football should make an impact up at kings beach, along with a few other decent recruits, as spoken about earlier in the thread..

Where do you see wynnum being this year? You agree with the previous comments as to wilston getting belted?

Burliegh added a tasmanian recruit last season, a dashing wingman, although I can't remember his name. I'm blaming the alzheimers  Whats your news Lenny... Toot Toot is the springwood bus going down that way?
Might be benny Ranger very handy player from Clarence Roos. Sounds as though the cats have picked up some Tassie boys to. Fisher, Arnold and Hendy all ex North Hobart. Mick Fisher can play anywhere, great overhead. Joe Arnold brilliant small - gets it often and super quick hands. Chris Hendy is a good finisher.

Tasmanian's in QFL div 1

I hear three Tasmanian Quality footballers have headed up to play at Broadbeach Cats this year, Chris Hensby, Michael Fisher and Joe Arnold, anyone know of their progress?

Any of them play senior footy in tas? Heard of fisher and Arnold at the cattery but nothing on hendy??

On another note ladder predictions from anyone yet?
Itd be good to see who thinks who will go alright n who may struggle!

Heard some tassie boys headed to qld in 09.

Anyone heard where?

James Charlesworth, Tom Salter, Zeb Graham, Nick Hill and Kyle Chamberlain all to Redland Bombers from Tasmania.

Predictions for ladder:

Southport
Morningside
Suncoast
Mt Gravatt
Redland
Broadbeach
Thunder
Aspley
Labrador
Sherwood
