Hey guys I have just moved to QLD from Tas/Vic, am living on Tamborine Mountain and am looking for somewhere to play this year.
Does anyone know what the State association division 3 comp is like, the Jimboomba Southern Redbacks look like the closest club to me, just wondering what sort of standard it is and how many clubs and how much travel etc.
cheers

State association div 3 could possibly be the worst competition in Australia, legitimately.

AFLSQ Div 3 is quite a low-standard comp.

But rather than it being about has-beens and never-will-bes, participation is the key. It actually introduces a lot of people to our code who very likely would not get a run at other clubs.

Division 3 was designed to cater for clubs' Third team, and single-team developing clubs (such as Southern Redbacks). Yeronga had a Thirds team this year: it introduced a lot of new players to football, and many went on to become great members and supporters of the Club during 2007.

Over the last two years, our Thirds have only had one report - and our player was the "victim". That's not a bad record in any comp.

Sure, the skills, experience and knowledge is lacking - but that particular comp thrives on the clubs' and players' enthusiasm, participation, and social interaction.

And Billy, maybe that's what you are looking for in your football now. I won't make assumptions about what you're looking for, and I don't want to run down other clubs. You are very welcome to join in at Yeronga whilst you figure out what level you wish to play at (although, it may be a long way to travel for you).

But if you do stick with the Redbacks, you could end up being just the person they need to get them organised, playing better football, and improving their club all over - which would be a great goal for anyone.

Enjoy your season - and welcome to Queensland!

Think Gravatt still need a genuine goal kicker. I know they won the flag last yr, but I reckon last yr was a slightly sub standard yr, and won a flag in a weak yr. Think that with Labrador improving, Southport will be stronger and think Zilmere will be stronger after losing 15+ players from yr b4, that Gravatt will need to pick up a quality forward if they are to win again this yr.
Again, I think Labrador are definitely the team to beat in paper.

Clarke
Fixter
Knobel
Fulton
Shattock
Featherton(comp B&F winner)
Alleway (State CHB)
Stewart

Prob for them is there bottom 5-6 players. However with pick up of 2 ex AFl players, I reckon they are the team to beat.

Does anyone on here know when the season proper is to start. From what im hearing the north side teams are struggling to pull 25-30+ trainers. Has anyone else got any news on the season ahead.

none at this stage but has anyone seen a full draw for pineapple cup

Yeah no sorry bud i havent seen anything. I know they have had there meeting to put forward each clubs proposal for the year. I think AFLQ is sitting on there thumbs quite a bit.The site has nothing for this year yet and most contacts, fixtures etc are all last years. Bout time they updated their website with the information people actually wish to access.I also think it should be mandatory that state league clubs update there websites too, some clubs still have pre season 2007 stuff still up with applications for 2007 coaches.Cmon, lift your game, if AFLQ wants to be taken seriously in the context of a solid professional competition they are not going the right way about it.You arer supposed to be advertising and educating people about this great game

With regards to the draw they're probably waiting for the status of the Zilmere situation to be known.

Only problem with that bud is the fact that the division 1 draw is already accessible on Zillmere's website.

On a different note i was driving past Sandgate's Lemke Rd ground to see them boring irrigation piping and holes into the main oval playing surface. Since all the latest rain and now constant irrigation to the field, the once grand playing surface will be back to its former glory, a little better then playing on concrete hard dirt and spinifex lol.

The Zilmere website doesn't work for me, just goes to Sporting Pulse.
