Unfortunately we don't play a lesser skilled team this season, except for the Suns who we only just beat by a point already.

Pies by the end of the season, but they'll win that as they have something to play for.

We already have two wins though.

They have an extra down back, but also have more at the fall of the ball up forward. It has to be all workrate.

Such an impressive and timely intercept from Duursma. I have high hopes for her.

I hope Vickers gets up next week. She's a goer.

I know Darcy will always have a special place in blues W history but it’s been 2 years since they played even a half decent game. Darcy doesn’t chase, hasn’t kicked a goal in 5 games and only touches it 7 times a game.

The only veterans we’ve been able to hang on to are vescio and pound who are 2 of the players from the early years that the game has moved past very quickly.

Between us and the bulldogs for the title of “foundation club” who got hit the hardest by list changes but excuses mean nothing. We need solutions.

1 goal in 2 games of footy is embarassing

So we play 2 games in Round 5 somehow according to the AFL app. See you next Sunday when we travel to play Port. Good news is we only have Brisbane after that.

How long before our good players look to move for success? McKay is the only one we can probably rely on to stick around.

Couldn't give a crap about the AFLW anymore. Lost respect for it

Nothing against the women nor is it to do with them. Glad they have their own league.

But the AFL have treated it like absolute crap with the endless shifting of the schedule. From forcing the women to exert their energy in the summer to now cramming 11 opponents in a 9-10 week timeframe.

Not to mention how they screwed the foundation clubs, having supposed stars and marquee players pushed out (or walk away for little to nothing in return) to prop expansion clubs who couldn't be bothered to pitch a good enough bid for a license to begin with.

Clubs like our own as well as Bulldogs were setback 5-10 years in their development programs and screwed of compensation for mass exodus of players walking out. The league didn't care.

The league expanded far too quick. And for those who claim the quality of the women's footy improved... sure in some areas it has. But results such as these still appear too often and the comp remains too lopsided.

its getting harder to care thats for sure, ill always still watch when i can, but whether we win or lose means less and less to me.

We're feeling it more than most because of our position, but it really is unacceptable management no matter how you slice it.

I can't believe they've gone ahead with these short turn-around scheduling.

Caroline Wilson mentioned on FC that the AFL are already looking at starting the AFLW season earlier next season, having teams play 3 games in such a short period has had a lot of backlash, fatigue & injury concerns, also it will align more with the VFLW season which also gives all clubs the chance to have players to choose from their reserves teams…

AFL still continues to stuff up some of the most basic decisions when it comes to many matters of the game which should not be so far off the mark, before the right and most obvious outcome is finally put in place, then common sense actually prevails…

Last few weeks have been hard to watch, many of the observations and comments above are right on the money, system and method, basic skills, footyIQ, overall speed combination of overall leg speed - mind/reflex - decision making/reaction…
We need a few seasons of drafting/trades with actually bringing in high quality talent who possess and play at the modern day level…

Aligning the AFLW season with the VFLW is a no-brainer. It has been so frustrating having players waiting in the wings to bring in for reasons of form or injury, and they haven't played a competitive match in months..

It's not all down to drafting now. The development and the skill level is glaringly deficient. A few good players but they need support passage to passage, quarter to quarter, week to week.
I still feel they don't train to play a remotely skilful and mobile game, which they need in order to have a remote chance to succeed.

Their builds now actively get in the way of their ability to move around the ground at speed, and they look markedly different to most of their opponents. It's a series of choices that seems completely out of touch with modern football.

The league expanded far too quick.
Without sufficient resources and intelligent use of them. Had they been mandated by the league, it would have made a big difference.

Investment seems to be the fundamental failure here.

We have a few players who don't have those athletic builds, and they don't look any quicker. There are other clubs who go well, who have muscular players. I just think everything makes us look slow, aside from the fact that we don't recruit quick players, not since the two rugby girls were with us, and Georgia Gee.

You can't just start adding on kilos of muscle or general mass without much consideration for the demands of the sport and expect it to work out for you.

It smacks of a lack of high performance guidance and insight. Most aren't super lean, many are now super big, particularly in the arms, glutes, and thighs, and it's hindering their ability to accelerate and change direction.

There doesn't seem to be any purpose behind it beyond being able to easily maul an opponent, but you've got to close them down first, and you have to close them down dozens of times a game.

I still try to support it, but man it's been hard. Not just results or poor handling by the league, but half the players I get attached to run off elsewhere...
