Was thinking this wouldn't look out of place in year one.
We were actually a better team back then, at least based on appearances, because all teams started relatively even, and the skill level was similar. Some teams have developed massively, and each player that comes into the team knows the system.
We have a lot of players who are athletes, but don't seem to grasp the running patterns and the percentage plays in footy. We have a lot of players who give handballs that are easily cut off. We either bit off way too much, or give it up just to pass the responsibility to someone else.
Players like Hendrie and Fitzgerald are clearly not AFL savvy. They are placeholders.
