Its honestly pretty obvious logic.

Adelaide and Brisbane had unrestricted access to the South Australian and Queensland drafts and became completely overpowered. Port and GC are late joiners that would be getting access to those same drafts that gave the same crazy advantages that Adelaide and Brisbane had. If we'd gone in rather than them we would probably have been just as dominant. The fact that in just a couple of drafts we went from inception to a prelim says a lot. We've had TWO rising stars in 3 years in the comp, and have also had the runner up in one of those years.

And made a prelim without Cuthbertson, Tahau, Young, Ewings - I've probably missed a couple. And Erin Phillips had just retired.

I think we will get killed now that its a true national draft.

Most teams will end up doing better than us just through freebies (Irish recruits), which of course we will not consider.

We arent cut out for this stuff.

Yes Adelaide are dominant because they got SOLE access to state talent for X amount of years.

Port didn’t get sole access, nor did we get state based access for as long as the crows did.

making a prelim doesnt = guaranteed total dominance in the future. Surely a port fan of anyone could see that is a wild claim to make.

Port has been closing the gap on the top teams and Adelaide , but Adelaide is still well well ahead of us. We saw what happened with north. We were not remotely competitive against north.

With a national draft , and the gap between us and the top teams it’s going to be very hard to close that gap now.

losing ewings, who was meant to be our hatchard level talent for nothing and young spending all of tens minutes on a football field in the last 2 years and getting injured whenever she puts boots on doesn’t help.

Cuthbertson is 34, Ewings is gone for magic beans, tahua will be good to have back. Young hasn’t been able to stay on the park and it will be a miracle if she makes it past 50 games given her history.

Point is they had to cover all of those players this year and they did it.

Dam but we get Jasmine Evans .. at least we got someone to trade for Rasheed if she wants to come to Port

We really are into opportunist forwards this year.

there is no certainty that we replicate this years performance next year, massive list turnover with depth, a lot hope and reliance on players returning from serious knee injuries and not capitalising on Hannah and now missing on Rasheed to our opponents who are already more advanced then us, I pray I'm wrong

Don’t get me wrong there’s quite a few good players , we’ve got a decent team, we’re just nowhere near the top teams, and some of our better players are much older than people realise I think.

Adelaide are massively reliant on Chelsea Randall and she's 34. They have a couple of fantasy footy pigs, but she is the legit bang for your buck player.

Jemma Whitington-Charity coming off an ACL

Bottom ager, All-Australian, triple threat - plays forward, mid and back.

Was coached by Naomi Maidment.

Rookie Me power rankings

18. Jasmine Evans
24. Lily Paterson
43. Jasmine Sowden
44. Jemma Charity
NR Chloe Gaunt
