Apparently that game was a farce. One team picked much stronger than the other. Wasn't an exhibition match at all, was 2x WAFL coaches picking predominantly their own players and not utilizing other WAFL teams. The result was a fait accompli. We have a lot to overcome to even get our selections right.
Did you watch it? The team selections may have been a 'farce' but the game certainly wasn't. Some pretty impressive footballers on display and sure it was one-sided but you could still see who were the best players on both teams. I think half of the players I mentioned above were in the losing side.

As I said in my previous post, I'm sure there are some more we don't know about but there are certainly a number of players from both Swan Districts and Coastal Titans that deserve a spot in our team. Just hope Donnellan is happy to play for Freo, as she seems a massive West Coast fan. Although I'm sure they are all professional enough to put aside who they supported as a child just like the men do. Think we will have an extremely competitive team.

Don't get me wrong, those that took the field competed strongly. But that 44 isn't representative of the 44 best in the state. Id say only around 10 would make the state team from what I hear.

Also the teams were purposefully unbalanced to give a one sided affair.

In a coup, Fremantle have signed Melbourne's Michelle Cowan as their women's coach for 2017.

I don't think it is possible for a bigger endorsement to be given to a person. Well done Fremantle, this will ensure that we stay ahead of WC for years to come in Womens' football.

Whilst some may find it insulting if the women's team win a premiership before the Men's I don't, it is totally different circumstances a much more level playing field, reduced teams and it would be well worth celebrating.

Can't wait for this to all kick off.

More football to talk about and shortens the off season by another month.

Having a little chuckle at people on BF saying they won't watch it. We're all footy-tragics on here and are so starved of football in the off season we get excited about NAB games!!

These girls are going to be going 110% to win and impress. I reckon the quality of these games will be miles above the NAB games.

Great news about signing up Michelle.

Super excited about it all - great coaching appointment, solid plans and support from the Freo board, new facilities coming up, access to the best players in the state, and potentially even one or two others from other states through Michelle.

I think having her in as a development coach with the boys, and potentially as an assistant coach bodes really well for the future of the club. Can't be happier :)

Really good news. Is there any confirmation from the club?
It was always an obvious move for Cowan, given her residence in Perth, but kudos to Fremantle for getting her to make the transition from Melbourne.
Hope she can convince Hogan to come across with her!

is the womens league going to be televised? i for one will defo be watching as both my son and daughter are full on into footy

Super stoked for Michelle, even happier for Freo as a club. Can't wait to see how the team develops over the off season.

Am I alone in thinking that the club's approach will go a long way towards attracting not only more members and corporate sponsorships, but also help attract and retain quality footy talent of BOTH genders?
