I'm actually really happy with our two selections.

Donnellan is tough as anything and is a really good leader. I was pretty sure we'd end up with Renee Forth instead but I rate Kara heaps higher so was very pleased. Bowers is probably as good as any on the list imo.

It was inevitable we were going to be raided. Randall, King, Swanson and Frederick-Traub are all great players that it would have been good to keep but there are still a heap of quality players from WA. Kira Phillips is a good forward. Ebony Antonio is a solid defender. And there is a heap of talent that wasn't even involved in the exhibition games earlier in the year. We're still in a strong position both immediately but more importantly, to build a dominant team.

How bad must some of those players be with who they are being compared to. Elliot Yeo, Richard Douglas, Matthew Wright or Shane Edwards. Do the women have a case for defamation?

Also, who would think that Elliot Yeo and Cyril Rioli would be considered similar players.

She did it earlier and came back on with it strapped but hobbled off a bit later. Not sure how bad as i left just after that. With the season in February even a slight strain puts a dent in the preseason. We'll find out if she plays next week as Swans upset the Titans.

AFL.com are reporting a suspected ACL for Bowers. Renee Forth (GWS marquee) also possible ACL. Should be furious at the WAWFL so playing the games on the weekend on such an otdinary ground.

That's extremely unfair on Freo considering the rest of the competition pillaged the WA stocks for their own marquee players, yet we can't take an interstate player now.

Really sucks about the injury too Bowers sounded like a fantastic get.

Same grounds as Melbourne picking Petracca at pick 2 in last years draft only for him to do and ACL and miss the season I would think.

GWS have a marquee player who looks set to miss too so i don't think we can blame the AFL for this one, they would always look after GWS which in turn would have helped us in this situation

I think you are getting an extra priority pick, but not another marquee player

What good would that do? don't we have free range over the WA draft anyway, same for GWS and the sydney draft?

You are right, the practical benefits may not amount to much, but I do not see what else they can do. Even giving Freo another Marquee just means another player from the pool they would have picked from anyway. GWS may get more benefit as they may be able to get a Vic, but losing Forth hurts them more than losing Bowers hurts Freo.
