Every game will be like that at Geelong. Ground is too big for the women’s footy.

Tough loss to take. We deserved better from the opportunities we had to score.

I’m not a fan of Harris playing behind Vescio in the forward line.

I called this after last week. Disappointing lack of professionalism and maturity to continue to improve the standard after last week's gift from GWS.

Tactical failure to hold Bri out of midfield for the first half, and Harris' ability to make it about getting stuck into the opposition instead of getting stuck into producing a result for the football team has once again come back to haunt her.

Basic fundamentals of the game are just lost in this league.

Play in front / Stay composed / Learn the basic skills like hand balling and kicking etc to a mediocre level at worst but not under that / take clean possession of the ball before trying to dispose of it.

Says a lot for the coaching and none of these aspects are even remotely adequate and it is not just us either. I reckon some Under 15's teams i coached years ago had way better fundamental skills than what the current AFLW does.

It is great for the girls to be out there representing the jumper and having a go but gee this league needs a heap of help to develop to something that is even remotely watchable.

Why is there no such decision for BALL ! Every tackle is either play on or a ball up. This happens every week in AFLW. It’s frustrating. They clearly do not dispose of the ball in the right manner, yet no free ever given. We have a great tackling team and get zero reward.

This is why the game ends up with lots of rugby-like scrums & very little scoring. For some reason the umpires refuse to pay holding the ball. The same happens in the VFL & they end up playing 35 minute quarters because of the constant stoppages.

As for today's result, this will go down as one we threw away due to a poor effort in the 1st half & then wasteful football in the 2nd half. There is still a lot of evolution left in this team before we will be challenging the best teams in the competition.

Wrong. The penny dropped for her today and she was pivotal in the turnaround.

Rarely did the team thing, her trying for the spectacular turned the ball over several times and watching her at ground level doesn't work anywhere near hard enough to provide a target up forward.

Trade while she still has some value.

You must have been watching last week's match, where I made the same comments.

She was incredibly team-first in the second half, and we looked so much better for it.

It’s frustrating to watch though and definitely would be frustrating if you were the tackler. Yet if you graze their head with a fingernail or turn your body in a contest to protect yourself. The opposition runs into you in that split second turn and it goes against you. This happened to one of the Hosking sisters. You are always taught to turn your body and put your ass in the contest to protect your own head. Smart thing to do. If you go in head first though and get hit, throw your head back . You get the free. It’s wrong.

The stats say we should have won the match, bar one:

Tayla Harris - 0 goals, 4 behinds

Really should have been 2.2 at the minimum, however there's no doubting her ability in every other facet of the game bar this.

All between the ears for Tayla, both in terms of composure and technique.

The umpring is shocking, has not improved in 3 years.

Pay the good tackles, pay incorrect disposal. It will improve skills as players get pinged for those things instead of knowing they can get away with it as they do now.

A very disappointing loss this one, should have won it by four goals. Hell, should have won it by a goal if the umpire didn't have his back turned when Darcy had the advantage and kicked a goal.

Sarah Hosking might be out next week, although she shouldn't be, they were both going for the ball in that contest and Harris pushed a player after one of her misses, hopefully it isn't looked at.

I think most U15 boys have been playing for a lot longer (a lot more hours) than the vast majority of women, it is a lot easier to pick up the fluent motion when you are younger. We will see the skills get better and better as the standard improves across the board. When you look at old mens VFL games it is almost comedic how bad the skills were back then, everything we learn is built on the foundations of the past and things keep improving. We are seeing the foundations of professional women's football, it is still amateur at the moment but from here the game will evolve and prosper.

Back to the game, struggled with Geelong's pressure in the first half but the Blues turned it around, very unlucky not to win, I think Carlton blew much easier shots on goals in general than Geelong. Harris wont want to watch the replay of this game, she will be disappointed.

Just look at the younger players, they're better.

Prespakis obviously speaks for herself but Gee and even Abby Mckay are a step up, having played footy more of their life than the older women playing.

I just hope the rules change around the VFLW as we need more of our player playing in winter to improve skills for next season.

I think this is a bit unfair.

Today was deplorable as a spectacle but I have watched almost every AFLW game this season and there's been plenty of entertaining, free-flowing games.

The more athletic teams are much better to watch as they can actually bring some run and carry to the table.

I do think some tinkering with the rules is required, to hopefully better suit the physical attributes prevalent in the women's game.

First order of business is to fix the umpiring, they are seriously just spectators at times when they should be paying these repeatedly obvious holding the ball free kicks to open the game up.
