definitely improved on that first qtr and only 2 down so still in it.
But geez we played some rubbish football.
Intent is there and effort at least but skills work 100% a need.
Feels like they are being completely outplayed but the score doesn't reflect that.
Having trouble linking up play with a lot poor handballs and misjudged kicks, definitely having a crack though. The backline has held up pretty well albeit with a few clangers.
Three players without a touch. Franklin, Bakker and Hosking.
Hosking is at least flying around like a psycho, trying to smother and tackle everything that moves. Need Franklin to stop putting her hand up for a kick on the head and actually come up to the wing to get involved.
Essendon well worth their win, left a few out there but we will want some back too.
First quarter was real flashbacks to the last few years, but I’m encouraged by how they wrestled some momentum back in the second and then came out firing in the third. Wasted the period of ascendency.
Schilling was fantastic but managed to include two of the worst turnovers you’ll ever see after great intercept marks. Good signs for some backline help when SMac comes back?
Would love to find a way to get Western in space more, not sure why we line up so centrally at the centre bounce - almost single file. Need to get more link up handball but the skills and fumbles let them down badly at times when they went to get it going.
Scoreboard about right but some nice signs for the state of coaching at the club, some changes and arresting momentum which we’ve never seen. Big game versus the Dogs coming - are we cellar dwellers or are we ready to pull ourselves up a tier?
Crap game by Daisy, was like the last year's coaching. The commentators were onto it, long bombs up the wing, no run from behind, no attempts to switch the play. With two minutes to go they did some fast run and carry up the middle from the backline, was the best ball movement they did all game, and the only time they'd tried it.
Daisy will try things and learn when they don't work, hopefully we won't see much of that again this season. Hasn't worked the last three years, why keep doing it? I know we don't have North Melbourne's list, but when they thrashed the Lions, %60 of their ball went up the middle, and they were always looking for ways back into the corridor. With us it was maybe %5. It's more risky for turnovers, but so is getting stuck on the wing all Fing game.
