2021 AFL WOMEN'S - ROUND 6
Collingwood v Western Bulldogs
Sunday 7 Mar, 2.40pm (AEDT)
Victoria Park
Watch on Channel and the AFLW App
This should be some game.
Almost 12 months ago to the day, the Pies beat the Doggies 53 to 21 but I think that the doggies are a better team this year (but so are we) and will not be as easy.
Five wins on the trot, already a club record, and a sixth tantalisingly looming on the horizon. The Pies will go two games clear on top if they get the four points on Sunday. Collingwood ranks first for average disposals, second for handballs, but tellingly, eighth for kicks.
The Dogs are also on the march this season, recording four straight victories. The last time the AFLW side achieved this was at the tail end of 2018 and start of 2019. One area of concern would be the spread of goalkickers, particularly against a strong Magpie defence, with just five players kicking majors this year.
The Pies have bought in Abbi Moloney for the injured Jordan Membrey (ACL).
The debut on Sunday will hold extra significance for the 18-year-old who will face off against the club her father, Troy Moloney played 36 games for.
Moloney comes into the side for third-year Magpie, Jordan Membrey who suffered a season-ending ACL injury during last Sunday's 35-point win over the Demons.
Maddie Shevlin and Bella Smith have been named as emergencies for the round six match.
Player to watch for Western Bulldogs is Ellie Blackburn.
