Contract lengths 2024
Yeah, works best as a high forward who runs and presents a marking option. Really good glimpsed in her second season, so positive it'll come together. Contract extension suggests lub thinks so too.

Is Locke the only one not confirmed for 2024 now? May have missed that news.
Locke, Smith, Dumont

Do people have any questions they want us to tackle on S2NH ahead of the season?
Given it's been basically entirely behind closed doors, any insight into what Casey Dumont's development has been over the past season and the current pre-season?

Still seen as a key defender by Webster compared to whatever Bec Goddard envisaged when she recruited her?

Pleased for Bates being announced as captain, seems a great lead by example operator... and the raw emotion when she was told was a great insight to how much it means to her. Exciting times ahead for this group.

Can't help but feel bad for TLR though, it doesn't seem like a case of stepping aside, moreso the process* for determining this year's captain led to Bates being their successor?

*Not sure there has been any mention of what the process involved or how democratic it was?

Knew Bates was going to be captain on photo day (she was seated on the Right of the coach - the captains spot in all photos)

Whilst tilly may be a tad hard done by, it's probably the right option. They have had numerous "small" injuries which have limited training the last year and on top of that their form probably hasn't warranted an automatic selection

Hope TLR doesn't get too beaten up about having to relinquish the title. They've done a sterling job for the fledging club but will be good for them to concentrate on their own role as the imports demand spots and the draftees continue to step up.

Peer voted as per in the interview that streetspirit posted

Stoked for Bates, hoping she can build off the foundation that TLR created

Not necessarily. TLR to Bec Goddard's left in last year's photo

We beat Essendon in a practice game at Caulfield Grammar at Wheelers over the weekend.

the Hawks AFLW and Soaring to New Heights twitter accounts both have some commentary.

EDIT: Some commentary from afl.com.au

Format: Four 20-minute quarters
Final score:
Hawthorn 9.1 (55) def. Essendon 6.4 (40)

HAWTHORN

New faces:
Eliza West (trade), Hayley McLaughlin (pre-draft signing), Casey Sherriff (trade), Laura Stone (pre-draft signing), Jess Vukic (pre-draft signing), Mikayla Williamson (draft), Sophie Butterworth (draft)
Notable omissions: Mack Eardley, Kristy Stratton
What we learnt: The Hawks are likely to catch a few teams on the hop this year under new coach Dan Webster. They were noticeably deliberate in their rebound from defence, with lots of short, sharp kicks, before pressing the accelerator to get into attack. Sherriff and West started in the midfield, with Lucas-Rodd playing a full game at half-back. Jas Fleming was dangerous on the wing, with Williamson showing a few nice signs in that role in the second half. Greta Bodey is in fine touch, and slotted a stunning banana from the boundary. Sophie Locke finished the game with a lower leg injury, with the Hawks yet to confirm any further details.

Still curious to see how the defence will line up. Seem to have options but not too much to much height outside of Eardley.

Everist is probably the other tall defender (179cm). It is a small backline but Lou Stephenson is a live option against taller forward lines, but we don't play North Melbourne (the major forward line in terms of tall timber).
