Much better 2nd half we at last saw some convincing passages of play along with a functional forward line!! where it looked all at sea in the 1st we were also much better at the contest and ground ball gets.

Draper dominated Grundy early and that continued with Essendon finishing ahead in CP and UCP.

But our starts Essendon should of had a 4-5 goal advantage.

Ifs and buts defence carried them early .

It's just about winning and getting the top 2 and we are doing that.

We can't play that poorly in a final , but it's a long year and yes you can pick all the things to bits but whatever we needed wins and we got them.

we also got our skipper back and Heeney beast back that's massive . Campbell Florent Mcdonald were great

Mills our most touches was massive

Grundy needs a rest.

Parker was shocking in the first half but turned it in the second , maybe it's a simple as start him in the middle first bounce ?

Tale of two halves.

The first was just dreadful. Unlike the Port game our defence at least held up, but pretty much nothing about them was working. The midfield was getting belted, there was no smoothness towards our game, and really we should've been down by 7 goals rather than 7 points.

That second half though was the best we've played since the North game. Our clearance game was on song, the ball movement was back, our forward line was killing it.

Florent was outstanding, probably his best game all year. Campbell as a forward looked really good for two and a half quarters. Heeney well, he was just Heeney. Parker in the second half (especially the third quarter) was really important and has shown his X-factor. Hayward was really good despite looking proppy. Cleary looked really lively up forward and I think has probably overtaken Wicks in that pressure forward role. And how much better does the defence look with Mills and Melican back there!

The Minor Premiership is now effectively ours. In a season as tight as this having two home finals - and the double chance - is really, really beneficial.

Bombers ball skills after half time was shocking, but happy that we were able to punish them off their mistakes so well.

Parker and Heeney were the difference after HT, I think Parkers role is perfect too. Play majority forward whilst taking a key back, then kick into the mids when we need him.

Enjoyed the performances of some of our role players, Roberts so composed, Cleary was IMO fantastic. Just kept on hunting. Campbell's intensity and chase down pressure has been a big improvement this year too, had some great use inside 50 and for goal.

Some really great signs tonight! Backline especially looked so much better with Melican, Mills and Rampe back there. Really helps get our rebound game going. Generally very promising signs from Mills tonight, he had a really good game. Glad we didn't drop him like some wanted.

Midfield and forward line and the connection between the two clicked in the second half too. Campbell played maybe his best game for the club - if he's only going to get ~15 touches, that's what I want to see from him. Cleary was really solid too, just willing the ball forward and he took his chance in front of the sticks when he had it. Gulden looked much better tonight.

When Heeney has a burst of momentum, he can win us a game in 15 minutes. First half still a massive concern, but my optimism is slowly returning.

The first wasn't as bad as people think really? We did silly things but the defence held up and we had some moments or maybe I am being kind
Nah, we got belted.

BUT the defence did hold up extremely well which is a fantastic sign in itself.

That's what was keeping us in games when we had those slow starts earlier in the season.
