Ahmed Saad kicking at goal

He was obviously talking about St Kilda players

Well he didn't specify so it's not obvious to me.

I guess while I'm chatting to a saints man, what's going on with Milera? I remember him tearing it up in partnership with Saad in the Carlton game this year then he just kinda dropped off?

His drop in form seemed to coincide with Riewoldt giving him a spray, don't know if his confidence was shot or if it was just a coincidence
Isn't setting the world on fire in the reserves

I would still prefer him to Dean Polo.

As long as they start their run/walk up by the 30 second mark, then they're fine.

It looks weird as **** and it looks like he has a stick up his ass, but it is extremely effective. He seems to be in a trance in the initial part of it and may even be meditating, then gets a bit of pace up in the last few steps and then drills it as straight as an arrow, almost every time.

In my time watching St Kilda play he's probably in the top 4 for set shot kicking for goal with Lockett, Kosi and Jason Heatley, who were/are also generally deadly accurate. Most of his set shots for goal this year have also been from around the 45-55m mark and most of them have not only been goals, but have basically split the centre (including last night's one from 50m, on the right hand boundary). I only remember him missing two set shots for the year and they were from about 48m and 55m out.

If he keeps doing it so well then I wouldn't be surprised if others start to emulate parts of his technique. The slow walk in of course also gives him that extra few seconds to get his breath back and get his heart rate down, like Novak Djokovich's 20+ bounces of the ball before each serve did for him, before each point, in tennis. :thumbsu:

I didn't pay attention to it. Surely it's not that funny? Oh god someone YouTube please.

It is pretty funny...we were discussing it at the game last night when we went to the bar for a quick beer during one of his walk ins. He's a great kick for goal. We decided Clokey needs to employ the same approach. Couldn't be any worse I guess..

Not sure it's on youtube, couldn't find it just now...channel 7 probably go to an ad break.

I would absolutely love to see Nick Riewoldt try it, at least the slow walk in part, which would allow him to get his breath back after having regularly run himself to exhaustion getting to the ball. A lot of the time he must be kicking the ball when he's completely knackered. Having said that, his kicking for goal has been pretty good for him this year, but if it gets worse again I reckon we send him to Ahmed for advice.

He has a seriously powerful leg on him for someone as short as he is. He hit the post at good speed, 2/3 of the way up, earlier in the season, from the 50m line, so he kicks it 60m without too much trouble. It would be good to see a goalkicking comp between he and Kosi and Siposs at training. :thumbsu:

Armo or dicky dal would win I reckon.

I didn't notice him taking a particularly long time last night, but I was absolutely dirty on him for massively improving his angle on that deliberate oob free early in the first. Sneaky/clever/lucky.
He had to curtail his "run-up" for that one because he was so close to the boundary and it was his best kick of the night.

Actually only noticed it at the game on Saturday night. All I could think was "he would want to kick this after that build up".....seems to put a lot of pressure on himself but the theatre of it is great.
