Akermanis - Biggest Mistake

Calling it early. Will not play another game of AFL. Eade seems to like giving the old farts every chance he can but I think Akers done and dusted.

Gold Coast anyone ?

Can't see them bothering, given he's already not making a huge impact on the field this year. I'm sure they'd love the publicity though.

GC would have to have rocks in their collective heads to take a punt on Aker.

He's exhibiting all the signs of premature senility with the way he's been carrying on lately.

It's almost kind of sad.

From a once champion member of an all-conquering Lions outfit to a sooky washed-up has-been having a public dummy spit about the ignominy of being tagged in the VFL.

Once he would have been good enough to burn off a tag but it seems these days, he's only good enough to have a whinge about it

"Another reason can be the relationship with the coach. I have seen first hand when it goes sour and it is the last place a player wants to be. I also know the pleasure of playing under a coach who trusts you and wants you around." (Aker on why Ablett might go to the GC)

Given that Aker has in the past and continues in the present to burn bridges everywhere he goes who was the coach who gave Aker so much pleasure by trusting him and wanting him around?

He can only mean Rocket, but if he really thinks this is the case he can't have been listening to some of Eade's responses to Aker's latest comments about dribblers etc

I don't like how people spell it "Acker." It's Aker imo.

If you look at the book Akermanis released 5 years ago, it is actually spelled "Aka";)

Must be Walls. He has burnt Merrett and Northey in articles.

Aker appeared here locally a week or two back to take training and speak at a Sportsmans Night.

It is alleged he had a private chat with the players of the club and spoke "off the record".

If he plays for the Dogs again in the 1's I would be surprised. He's a media man now (In his own mind) and he's already tipping s%&t on the Bulldogs.

At some point he will run out of controversies.

Just shows how much he lives for himself.

People and football clubs are just a means to an end for him to advance his own brand. As soon as they are no longer useful to him, he spits in their face and sells every secret he can remember for a cheap buck.

He is an absolute rubbish bloke, of that I have no doubt.

This. :thumbsu:

Hammo must miss him so much, all the inside info he used to get off him. Wonder who he's getting it off now ?

he sources his info from the same place that New Idea and Woman's Weekly get theirs......he either makes it up himself or regurgitates blog rumours

"someone close to..."

"an inside source said..."

"...said a friend who did not want to be named"

"...it is believed"

"...it is understood"

how Hamilton must wish he worked for a real newspaper

Akermanis sacked

The Western Bulldogs have terminated Jason Akermanis's contract just six weeks before the end of the home-and-away season and with a finals campaign awaiting the club.

The Bulldogs have become fed up with Akermanis constantly disrupting the group and breaching confidences.
‘‘He hasn’t earnt the trust of the group,’’ a source told The Age.

‘‘It’s a pattern of behaviour. You can’t put it down to one thing. It has just gone on for so long. And we don’t want it to keep going.’’

Anyone still want to argue he's just hard-done-by?

Looks like he'll never get the chance to live up to his promise of sending Leigh Matthews a picture of him holding up a premiership cup with the Bulldogs with "Wish you were here" written on it.

Serial bridge burner and no one to blame but himself.

Not equipped for team sports.

You were right on the money there.
