Akermanis - Biggest Mistake

Looks like he'll never get the chance to live up to his promise of sending Leigh Matthews a picture of him holding up a premiership cup with the Bulldogs with "Wish you were here" written on it.

Maybe Leigh should send Aker one of these.

Great player, shame his ego got too big. Could have been a one club player and a legend of the game if he kept more than half his oppinions to himself.

This takes a bit of focus of Voss and the other coaches that aren't going so well for a few days at least.

Yep it's out now, so I'll fill in a bit more, but basically he told a group of blokes he'd never met that he was finished and said things about individuals that you just should not say.

Unbelievable

So he was trying to get sacked?

So he was trying to get sacked?

I guess you could say that, he was pretty open about the fact that he'd lost the passion to play.

He was certainly saying the right things in the media but that was the direct opposite of what he had said down here.

Comes as no surprise to me.

Well there must be alot more gay footballers then eddie said thats what got him in trouble in the first place aerial ping pong is making sense now.

Deserves a little more love from in here I would have thought?

A lot of respect for his footballing ability, very little for his ego.

The two aren't mutally exclusive and he has done nothing but take repeated potshots at us since he left. Sorry to leave you disappointed with the lack of love.

I hope you offered one when Hamill retired from Saints.

I have no agst towards him or Camporeale (or for a more recent example Fevola).

Although Fev didnt leave as much as get pushed.

Wayne Harmes barracks for Richmond (blashpemy) and apparently did while playing for us, and I have no ill-will.

Aker may be a complete homophobic loud mouthed disruptive knob that cant keep his mouth shut, but he did contribute a great deal to three Brisbane premierships, and win a brownlow while a Lion.

Surely he's harmless now?

We've continued on without him, yet he sporadically takes shots at Brisbane over and over again. I'm sure there is more to come.

I'm not sure what you expect us to do? Bake him a cake?

He's not our responsibility anymore.

We would love to be able to welcome him back, but the reality is it's all about him and he's in some deluded state that everyone in the world is sitting about just hanging off his every word. He will just be a mouthpiece for ridiculous and controversial statements from this point on up until no one cares anymore.

I think this would be twice now that Leading Teams have "got" him.

His refusal to leave with a bit of dignity speaks volumes about the person. He has built up a nice crescendo for Aker-exclusive.

Wait for all the articles about how he was ill-treated by doggies and his comparisons between his tumultuous times at Dogs and Lions. Also, the inside info about which Doggie players don't like each other. Interesting times.

Great talent on field.

Off field, It's never his fault. And that's the legacy he's left behind.

How might the figures fall western royboy – might 35% of these ‘storys’ make the papers, 55% in a book and 10% never see the light of day due to legal persuasion?

I reckon there could be a few people reacquainting themselves with some legal business types in preparation of.

I do wonder if he'll step in for Sam Newman at some stage.

Yup. He even made the first time he met his father into a media event. He invited press photographers and reporters.

No doubt the Aka show is really only just beginning, as im sure we'll have to put up with his ego-centric personality on all forms of football media for the next 1000 years.....

Surely he's harmless now?

Someone who seeks controversy to increase their media profile and has a grudge against us can probably do (and has done) more harm than you realise.

Different strokes, I don't really have any angst about aka. I think he seems to have some issues, but that is his problem. Some people round here still love him.
