Mate, not trying to be annoying, as I understand you've already told us what you know, but logically if we take Henderson/Essendon conversation about them having interest in their job as fact, it would seem we are done here, and all previous assurances/verbal agreements or whatever you want to call it would be null and void. I was always of the opinion that a) given Clarko's wishlist Essendon is simply not a good fit, and b) Sonja does have the ability to close this deal but if what Robbo is saying is true, it would seem I was wrong.

What is your take on this?

How much of what comes out of Bomberland has proven to be fact over the last while?

My position has always been we don't have Clarko signed up. But nor do they.

Just want someone who is experienced, has been successful to a decent extent at AFL level and has the ability to get the lads playing good, exciting footy. If that's clarko then cool, if not then I don't really care as long as the above requirements are met.

So there's a reason Clarkson manager is leaking stuff like he's interested in the Essendon coaching job..
What the reason is I don't know but its concerning.. What message is that sending us ?

That's Essendon leaking, not Henderson

Unfortunately Sonja declared her hand from day 1.. Clarkson clearly shopping himself around now knowing he has us as his backup.

Who's idea was it to only deal with Sonja ? was this Clarkson idea ?
I believe that was definitely the right strategy. Given we aren't a "BIG" club, our only chance was to go down that road of making him our clear and only target, and doing it early (hence Noble's removal 6 weeks out). The only issue you could have with our approach (if we ultimately miss out) is that we haven't pushed for the closure sooner, ie putting a hard deadline in front of him once we had him hooked (while GWS was our only opposition). That may have pushed him to make a decision before Essendon implosion happened, but it's a moot point now.

If we land Clarko is there any chance we can have a thread where everyone who got the sads due to media reports, tweets, what some far removed contact said, etc.. All those people, you know who you are, put your hand up in there and acknowledge that you flew off the handle and promise that you won't get sucked in by the media ever again..

Clarkson announced his interest in coaching all clubs not that long ago.

I'm not saying that we will get him, but I wouldn't say that his willingness to look at different clubs is something we dont all know.

I think its not going to be easy for the bombers to paint their club, board, and players in a shining light by having a review that came back all good, then making an appeal to him while allowing a coach to be hung out over the bin saying if you join us we'll take out the trash, then doing the 'review' that justifies it afterwards. Not sure why everyone thinks that the bombers list is really much better for a rebuild than North either - they haven't performed very well and whilst they don't have much more experience than north (15th v 16th), they are a few rungs older (12th v 17th) and that means that there will actually be a smaller window for premierships, less list flexibility and more list cost.

Yes its a big club, but I'll remind you that clarko just spent time with the Golden State warriors, which took a struggling franchise with a tiny silverware cabinet to glory and relevance in a way that transformed them into a powerhouse. That's not a story nor a legacy for its coach you will ever replicate at Essendon.

Correct. But if he is about to start the process with them now, even if he's genuinely undecided, we can't simply sit and wait any longer.

Regardless an ultimatum is pretty appropriate.

We have no coach

No list management

OOC players to make decisions on/them to decide on us, then sort any trades if required

Draft analysis to undertake which is probably already well behind schedule

A game plan to install

If Clarko isn’t in now and we do miss him, how do these when we would likely need another 6 weeks to find a new coach as no plan b is in place.

We need to be ready to go day 1 of preseason to get this train wreck back on track.

An ultimatum is completely justified
Clarko knows all this. He's not going to leave it to late.

IF he has committed to us I would hope he still goes and talks to *. This is a different situation to normal coaching appointments. Normally you have a bunch of guys selling themselves to the club. Here we have a bunch of clubs selling themselves to the coach. Clarko can go into * meeting and find out which players are leaving, which are staying, and what there trade/draft strategies are. All good intel for when he starts with us,
