What was it Greg Boulton said, Port Adelaide where you can walk 100m in any direction and still be at the scene of the crime.

The point is we are not a great club, just run of the mill, no point sugarcoating the truth or telling yourself we are particularly when we have found new ways to lose the 4 most important games of the past 5 years, Bulldogs, Richmond, north Melbourne, west coast. Outside of the club that would be called a loser mentality

Agree

Imagine if we jagged 2007, beat the Hawks in 2014, didn't drop the WCE game in 2017 and capitalised on our hard work in 2020 and 2021.

I feel our issue as a club (including the 2001-2004 era) is we are so focused on not failing we lose sight of the ultimate goal.

don't you feel silly now - surely tax payers wouldn't mind the PM getting about in a $1.5m hyper-car ;)

Surely this one could have been wheeled out again for the occasion? It's got an AFL pedigree and even has a teal paint job. I reckon Kochie and ScoMo being chauffeured onto Alberton Oval in that would have been priceless.

And think of the publicity!

They're completely different groups, times, teams, mate. You can't tie them together like that.

The 2014 Prelim was lost because we didn't understand that the wind was blowing right at our attacking end at the G in the first quarter, not straight.

Wrapping them all up is a mistake. It's just not the same group of people.

Here you go Boxx confirmation in today's 2021-22 MYFEO documents released today by the treasurer.

These are net additional funds, but previously allocated amounts might have be removed / reallocated.

I like what they've done but "Precinct" geez I dunno 'bout that. Seems like it's got an Americana overtone. I'd have gone 'The Hub' maybe.

Come to think of it "The Plug" referencing that horrible "power" name we shackled ourselves to. Will never forget being at the Entertainment centre

when we unveiled that name and I groaned out loud muttering to my mate "are you far ken kidding me".

I'm not that keen on the new name, it does sound a bit American, but I can see the logic that it fits with the idea of a community centre for several sports and activities. I think that most people who already just think of it affectionately as the Port Club will probably continue to call it that.

"The Port Club" does all of that as well though.

The only reason I can think of for dropping that as the name is to distance themselves from Port Adelaide Football Club, which is just idiotic.

The Alberton Precinct would have been a better option.

That had never occurred to me, I agree that would be idiotic. Don’t mind the Alberton Precinct idea either.

I suspect they are trying to market it to a wider audience.

If you get a lot of people rocking up for soccer games and basketball training, they will want to tap into that new "foot" traffic. maybe some consult told them a new name is one way of getting these people's attention and getting them to go have a drink / meal over there after their games of sports on the eastern side are finished.

Given we are spending $5mil to upgrade it and probably have spent another $5mil since we joined the AFL in 1997 with various upgrades, it really needs to turn a decent profit to contribute to the club, rather than just be a great asset to display our history.

Edit - pretty much confirmed with this brochure. They are targeting business to have functions there, not just the average fan/drinker.
