I'm not one for farewell games when the season is still alive and the player will be going to another club.

But I'd love to see Fazzy kick at least one more goal in for us in the seniors!

It's a great sentiment, but with so much still to play for in Round 23 (ranging from a home QF vs the Eagles, to a home EF vs the Cats) we must treat this game as a final.
If Fas would've been up for selection in normal circumstances (which he could very well be) - then pick him.
If sentiment is coming into the decision making - I would pass. Freo are a chance to bounce back strong next week, and the result could seriously stuff up our finals chances.

Fassy boy loves the Pies and wants to stay. He’s been smart with his money so its not about that, he just wants to play senior footy.

I dont know whether he’ll stay or go, it’ll come down to the offer at end of season.

I would suggest he's very likely gone - if there's another contract on the table.
I don't see us offering much (either $ or gametime) given that he has barely been able to push himself into the 22 this year, and the younger guys coming through have generally looked good.
You'd guess that either Freo or West Coast (probably the former - they could probably do with some mid-20's "vets" to ease the rebuild) would take a good look at him, and I hope he gets (and takes) a chance in 2019.

I think he will get a game this week, and it would not surprise me if he is playing for us next year. I think he is up for the challenge to get his spot back

Just get him in the seniors, enough mucking around with inexperienced players, it's time to bring in the big guns

Jaidyn Stephenson is about the only 'inexperienced' player who could make way for Fasolo in the forward line, and he's already kicked more goals in his debut season (32) than Fas ever has. The next least experienced forward for us is JDG, currently on 36 goals, who isn't really inexperienced and who has also exceeded Fasolo's greatest season (29) in considerably fewer games.

The other forwards standing in Fasolo's way have also both bettered his greatest tally by a comfortable margin: WHE (39 goals) and Josh Thomas (34 goals). Given that our forward line is functioning better now than it has for quite a while, and given Fasolo's modest career output, I'm not sure how he can be considered among the 'big guns'. I'd be happy if he gets a temporary call-up to give another player a rest, but it is a fiction to suggest we're crying out for him.

Spot on. Our forward line is flying, why on earth would we change it?

Correct the forward line is going aswell as it has since 2011. Why change it and bring in a bloke who is toxic, a sooky flog doesn't fit into the culture the lads have built.

Your opinion or have proof of that

I dont know if it's his body or attitude but doesn't seem capable of playing the high intensity team oriented footy that has got the boys to this position.
Has always been prone to cracking the shits and not chasing when things arent going his way and theres no place for that the in a successful culture.

Fasolo will be aiming to be a premiership player! No thoughts of farewell games for him. You got that!

I'm glad Faz put himself in danger of being selected this week coming into finals.

I wish he was a tall defender though.

If he was a tall defender he would have died of frostbite against Frankston.

Its good that he landed some goals but the quality of the opposition has to be taken into account.

I'm not sure where/how Fas fits into our present or future, but I think you're being bit harsh on him. His defensive intensity isn't up to standard, hard to disagree with that, but his intensity as a leading forward is generally okay. I don't think he's a sulky player, by any stretch. I've seen a lot of forwards over the years who drop their bundle too easily when the ball isn't delivered to them on a platter, but I wouldn't say Fas is one of those.

And nor do I think he's selfish. As a player in need of senior selection or a new home, he could have been forgiven for shooting at goal at every opportunity last weekend, but he didn't. On at least three occasions he worked hard at getting the ball to a teammate in better positions when he could have had a shot himself.

None of this suggests that he's in line for senior footy, but it should at least suggest that his attitude is far from toxic.

Fasolo produced his numbers playing for a bottom eight side who had well documented problems with forward transition.

We have no idea how he might have fared under the vastly improved circumstances of this season.

Or maybe he doesnt consider Frankston VFL standard.
If he was to put together another 3-4 games of high standard footy, while showing all the right signs of intensity. I'd be happy for him to come in and prove me wrong.
But the clock is close to midnight for him and you cant bring in a bloke who hasnt yet ticked all boxes against quality opponents. Just because afew supporters are getting misty eyed.

We do have a better structure this season, and we do move the ball forward with more speed than we have a previous years, and so it has to be conceded that Fas might have benefited from these developments.

I also think it should be acknowledged that Fas might not have benefited from the way we now play. He's a thoroughly decent lead-up forward, but the way we've moved the ball this year has not necessarily been to the advantage of that style of play. The goals of Stephenson, WHE, Thomas and JDG have often come from beating their opponent back into space on transition, and an even bigger proportion of them come from pressure acts in the forward 50. Neither of these are Fasolo's bread and butter.

Fas would hardly flounder in our forward line, but it's far from a given that he'd prosper, while the defensive deficiencies of his game would continue to work against him.
