A ten pick downgrade and some later picks isn't completely unreasonable. Helps you get the Bruce trade done too.

We had 7 that played mostly AFL last year. (Laird, CEY, Greenwood, Keath, Obrien, Kelly, Hartigan)

I'd say that would be up there with a record. Not to mention Cameron leaving the year before.

I get it, and provided a shit load of names that indicated that maybe you don't do as well as you think. Positive outcome bias is at play.

Looking at your drafts historically it could be a weight of numbers game. Does seem like you select a lot of rookies each year relative to the ND. Probably a cost saving measure.

The fact that most players available in the RD were available earlier in the ND makes the whole argument somewhat silly anyway.

Mofra summed it up; they'd be picking up a player sight unseen that they haven't done a medical on. That's already super risky and then that's not including the fact that Keath has a rod in his shin following surgery and will have a delayed preseason.

I'm guessing they haven't done either deal because the Saints won't accept 32 for Bruce and know 23/28 is coming their way. Otherwise, if they were going to accept 32, it would have been done by now
