well Brett Lee and Mr Warne are probably as much a allrounder then - I suppose we can almost count Glenn McGrath as one soon too :D
Boje has made a ODI hundred, infact two.

Dont see Lee getting fifties let alone hundreds.

if Symonds gets a 50 in Sydney he will be 1st choice for SA tour, if he fails he may miss, but it wont be Watson replacing him.

Am I the only one who thinks Watson will never be anything special with the ball, at this stage he still bowls pies.
His batting is solid but very slow at test level, he would not be a batsman that would rip any test team apart.

No i too think watson is ******** and overrated and nothing special!

Re: Symonds or Watson?

from memory in the last 10-15 years sth africa , pakistan and new zealand seem to produce the allrounders. the thing is they are basically wannabee allrounders or mediocre ones. cronje, symcox, boje, mcmillan, schultz, r peterson, hall, razzaq, mahmood, afridi, oram, styris, cairns just don't cut it. sure they do a job and none of the teams have had ample success with these wannabees. kallis picks up less than 2 wickets a test and is nothing more than a handy change bowler these days. pollock and flintoff really seem to be the 2 standouts at the moment.

i think teams are looking for an imran, kapil, botham, hadlee type of player that excelled in batting and bowling. the thing is they don't grow on trees.

actually now that i think about it why the hell did the poms experiment with white and cork :D

Re: Symonds or Watson?

At their best, Kallis > Pollock and Flintoff easy.

Dont underestimate Cairns, was a good player.

Re: Symonds or Watson?

F/D and eddied**k = two biggest flogs on this board. It is laughable how you overrate those from your own country, no it is pretty sickening.

For what it is worth if Symonds produces in Sydney he will be on the first plane to South Africa. Watson will be forced to play out the Pura Cup season for QLD and hopefully make some runs and take a couple of wickets to get the haters to shut the hell up. Symonds medium pacers are seriously undervalued. His spell first spell in the first innings was probably one of the best in the game despite not taking any wickets (though he came friggen close on many occasions). Moved the ball BOTH ways and by big margins, put the ball consistently on the spot and went for very few runs while troubling the batsmen. This adds some missing variety in the Aussie bowling attack, something Shane Watson doesn't bring to the table and allows Australia to play the 2 spinners now in more situations than not, which is what Australia needs.

So you're saying, Flintoff at his best is better than Kallis at his best?

Flintoffs best is this year so far, and he averaged 35 with bat and 24 with ball, Kallis's best which he sustained for TWO years, got injured so he couldnt bowl much, he averaged over 70 with the bat and 26 with the ball.

Just imagine having Tendulkars battaing but also McGraths bowling.

I present you Kallis :)

PS: Overrate players? LMAO "Clarke will become the greatest batsman Australia has ever produced" You Australians need to open the other eye.

1. Kallis > Fllintoff at his best in all rounder terms and..
2. AB de Villiers > Clarke

Thank you :)

PPS: Watson is ********.

I would go with Symmo ..he has that X factor that watson will never have ...plus he just dominated the hopeless saffies and made them look like the rubbish that they are :thumbsu:
Hahahaha Symonds will never play more than 25 tests :)

Why did you even bother quoting my post tosser? You went on some crazy tangent that had nothing to do with what I had posted. I was aluding more to the fact you both show no respect for Australian players, the ahh.. best in the world, and carry on like pork chops about your own players whose teams are placed, ahh.. 3rd and 5th in the world. Oh well.

I show respect, I only respect those who warrant it. Mostly Warne.

the ahh.. best in the world
Who lost to England...

How many times do I have to say it? Australia are a much better team than South Africa. Hey ****************? they are better!

All I say is Smith is one of the best youngsters in the world and so is AB, Kallis is a gun.

But obviously Hussey is alreay a champion though

And this would make South Africas batsmen what?

Imagine that getting out to a ******** bowler.
Hahahahaha dont compare Watson to Smith Kallis AB Gibbs Pollock Boucher.

Watson will never have their record, never.

He is an absolute dud.

Re: Symonds or Watson?

Symonds will go to South Africa...... no risk :thumbsu:

What is the position with Watson's return to cricket...... when will he be back and how long before he fully recovers? His best bet would be if he makes the OD side again.

What does that have to do with the question I asked? You said Warne was ********, he has been taking wickets, does this mean your batting lineup is indeed ******** too?

Watson will probably not play another test, let alone get anywhere near anyones record.

People say Smith cannot play agaisnt Australia, I brought up the fact that Warne cannot play agaisnt the best players of spin, I then said does that make him crap?

No it doesnt. I also think it doesnt make Smith crap.

Smith has proven in other countries he's a good player, he like most others have failed on this so far. I am sure South Africa will turn it around come Sydney and be competive there.

On a change of subject, does Jonty Rhodes still play? I haven't heard much about him in awhile I heard last he retired from I think Tests to play ODI's? Has he retired for good?

Re: Symonds or Watson?

Boje is not an all-rounder because he can't bowl.

And judging by the way he went out in both innings at Melbourne, it's safe to say he isn't much chop with the bat either.
