Grow up mate. Jeans had 1988 off because of ill health. He returned and coached the Hawks to the 89 flag after Alan Joyce coached them to the 88 flag. He then retired again at the end of 1990 and Joyce got to coach the Hawks to the 91 flag.

Jeans made a comeback to coaching at Richmond in 1992 and only lasted a year before ill health forced his permanent retirement from coaching.

Probably should be recognised as a six-time premiership coach.
Why should a 4 time premiership coach be recognised as a 6 time premiership coach?

4 x VFL > 8 x WAFL/SANFL/NEAFL/TSL

Everyone knows it. A few wont admit it.
Considering you have just lumped the WAFL and SANFL in with two competitions that have only existed during the AFL era, only demonstrates your lack of understanding of football history.

Nobody is claiming a modern day WAFL/SANFL/NEAFL/TSL is equivalent to winning a VFL premiership in the 70's. It is not even equivalent to winning a SANFL or WAFL premiership in the 70s.

However, to suggest that a 60's or 70's VFL premiership somehow holds more than double the significance of a 60's or 70's SANFL/WAFL premiership is utterly wrong.

Im well aware of the leagues I listed.

But thank you for your concern.

Maybe a poor choice of words but Alan Joyce piggy-backed off the work that Jeans had done, and became a two time premiership coach. Of course Jeans is not a six time premiership coach but his contribution to the 88 and 91 flags should be considered.

Would have loved to have had him at his best when he took us over and I was so excited about it at the 1991 GF where it had been recently announced.

We were not however a job for a man who needed to be attentive to his health.

Yes but you are overlooking the run and carry of The Prince Bruce Lidner
Who had a very good game, to be honest. I mean, sure, he was definitely far more into attack than defence, but played well.

One of the oddities of that game (given the quality of it) was that the rest of Geelong's good players had very quiet games - Buddha, Scott and Brownless had shockers, Bairstow, Bruns and Stoneham weren't much better. Bews, Lindner, Flanigan and of course Ablett carried the side.
