For all the shit slinging that happens around here, it seems to have gone unnoticed that we've already matched last years output with 4 rounds to go. Sure we've had to scrap for a few wins, sure sometimes things haven't gone our way, but we DO have 10 wins on the board. With a bit of luck and getting play we could feasibly be around 12 wins already too.

Tonight against North we struggled for periods, but hey, a win is a win. Stevens came back and did everything that would have been asked for him. Walker was way off the pace but that's only to be expected and he will be better for it.

We have a few good tests coming up but that will only be good for us. I fully expect 12 wins now, but don't particularly expect to make any noise in the finals. Anything more than that is just a bonus going into next year, where we can build on this season, and iron out some of the deficiencies that are still there.

still regret those games we let slip
Freo on GC Ess x 2 Syd at SCG: good effort thus far but not happy nor content with the how we have gone about it.
Still improvement - no denying that

Happy enough, as guns said if some things had of slipped our way we'd be in a way better position but thats just the way things go. We have a lot of high draft picks and it's easy to get frustrated with not being a top 4 team already, but so does St Kilda and it's taken them nearly a decade to get from the point of drafting high quality talent to being on the verge of a flag so I'm happy to be patient I guess.

1st against the bombers was close but the 2nd? CMON

yeh i agree... games we should have won are essendon first game, hawks, freo on gc and sydney in sydney..... that would have put us in such a better spot... but hey the reason we didnt win them is because we arent at that level yet.....

We should beat the demons and port in my opinion... expect the hawks to crucify port on sunday... adelaide is a winnable game depending on which carlton turns up on the day.

Hahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahhahaahhaahahahahhaha TOOOL

How many do you think we're gonna win champ? We'll win 2 at most, which would be 1 off my prediction, yet I'd be a tool? Out of curiousity will you come back here and say you're a tool if I'm right (which is highly possible)?

A better question, when a person makes themselves feel better by coming on an internet forum and insulting people for their opinions, just to make themselves feel important and give them at least some small reason to get out of bed in the morning, who is the bigger, more pathetic tool? Maybe you should get a life mate :thumbsu:

Has been a great effort by the Blues, we could have been 13 wins. But some great signs, now if only we could improve our skills and the passengers or (bottom six as Walls likes to call them) start coming to the party on a regular basis we will be a top 4 team soon.

Why is our board full of glass is empty emo's? We're on the verge of finals for the first time in forever yet so many wrists are still getting slit. Unbelievable.

It's funny, a lot of people wonder why there's so many ridiculously positive people on this board, who absolutely refuse to hear any negativity about their club, and shut down and insult others for doing so and voicing their opinion.

For the record, I encourage you to search some of my posts, I am extremely neutral in that I make both positive and negative posts. I'm here to rationally discuss the club and our performances, that involves being realistic, something alot of you need to learn to do. Carlton have been poor the last month, and have beaten the shittest teams in the league, face up to it, and discuss where and how you think we need to address this, instead of being so pro-carlton and saying we're the best and gonna win 1000000 premierships. After all, isnt that what an internet forum is for, to discuss things?

Im happy at this point .. But lets face it were playing down hill football .. We have no ability to lock a team down when they have the run , i understand that when we have the run teams cant stop us either. But fair dinkum the roos had loose men everywhere in the 1st half , and scored on every forward entry , it's abit embarrassing . And has happened in each of our last 4 wins .. Maybe Geelong is just the tonic we need , a kick up the backside ..

But you have to admit that last night's peformance was pretty poor ? (it does feel like an loss honestly)

but still at least hopefully we'll play finals this year, but the biggest problem is the mood/feeling in this board come this time next week, after we play Geelong.

If you think some of us are Negative Nellies now ??? :D

It was very frustrating watching last night, but in the cool of the day, better to have won by 10 points...and considering we haven;t beaten them since 2004...
I would be rapt if we made the 8 - play a final or two and take another step next year. Shame about those early games we dropped...which made last night even more important.

Well that's another reason to be positive and give Ratten another pat on the back, we've finally beaten some bogey teams that have given us some major maulings over the years in the past couple of years, IE Brisbane, Sydney and now North Melbourne :)

It's an pain in the arse though knowing we still havent' beaten Geelong or Adelaide in years, and we still have them coming up, having said that, I am quitely confident going into the rnd 22 game against the Crow-bots.

Yep, assuming one or two more wins we will sneak in. So on that basis it is an improvement. Bear in mind we've had a soft draw.

Last night we were very poor for large periods of the game. 3rd quarter was really good. Happy with that and happier with the game style, more accountable and desperate and prepared to attack the opposition ball carrier than than zone off. Yippee!!!

Also happy to see some innovation, Thornton forward was odd but thank god we tried something different.

So where are we at? Slightly better than last year, able to win games when we do not perform for long periods.

X factor for me is Walker and maybe Warnock in the last couple of rounds.

Get Jamo back in and well, add a match hardened Walker, and first touch with Warnock then who knows we might even see week two of the finals. If we get that far then it is as much as we can realistically expect...

I admit we played not so well but its still a win and 4 points. If our worst gets us a win then in a round about way its good because we know how great our best can be. Judd was quiet, Walker was rusty but got a run out, Betts is due, things like that. Its all very good experience for next year and beyond.

And to you Waite... there is i huge difference between pessimism and constructive criticism.

I think perhaps as well some of us are understating the Adam Simpson factor for the Roos, he is a much loved figure at that club, and I honestly think the Roos did lift despeartely to try and win it for him.

The umps trying to keep up the "romance" didnt help either.

yeh we are going well when you think like that but just really dissapointing we dropped the hawks, freo, bombers games. but hopefully we will win the next 3 out of 4 to really cement a spot in the 8 and get some teams worried for finals

Look I think there has been some slight improvement on last year, but if we're realisitic, we haven't improved a great deal, the likes of murphy, gibbs and bower have impressed me the most this year, the thing is though we don't play with as much spirit like we did last yr, the way we finished some games last year was very good.....the thing that has struck me this year is that Ratts never has seemed to have had a plan B, it's always the same game plan and thats why when the going gets tough, he gets outcoached and we are too predictable, I think we need to get SOS back to the club big time, surely his knowledge from St.Kilda will be of major benefit

1 maybe 2 more games won this year will see us match the expectations of the club and have us playing finals for the first time in what seems like centuries for the club.

Most of us would have been deadset happy just making the 8 and if the weagles get up over the bummers then we are firmly lodged at 7th place with exceeds the expectations of a lot of supporters.

If we manage to jag a win in the first final we play, then the club has exceeded the expectations of everyone...

if we make the grand final and actually win... I think that most of us supporters will be too busy creaming our pants to give a rats arse about season expectations... but I dont think thats going to happen...

Lets just enjoy the season and the fact that under Ratts, Swann and the rest of the administration at the club, we are making progress and moving towards #17... and the rest of them all :)
