2 points for a win and percentage is based on breaking even?
Has the SANFL always done that?
Yep.

And teamsheets are forwards down not defenders down like the rest of the Country.

2005 - Richmond beat Sydney at MCG, Sydney win premiership
2012 - Richmond beat Sydney at MCG, Sydney win premiership
2024 - Richmond beat Sydney at MCG
2010 - Richmond beat Sydney at MCG, Sydney didn't win premiership
2011 - Richmond beat Sydney at MCG, Sydney didn't win premiership
2016 - Richmond beat Sydney at MCG, Sydney didn't win premiership (but arguably should have)
2023 - Richmond beat Sydney at MCG, Sydney didn't win premiership

(Trigger warning: not amazing)

Bulldogs on Saturday night

Kicked 19 - 19

Won by 91

Richmond last week conceded 19 -19 to lose by 91 and then went ahead last night and lost by 119.

Too many nines and ones.

Can’t stop being distracted by thoughts of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the attacks on NYC/DC/United 93, the North American equivalent of our emergency calls to triple zero and the Carrera/4/T/S/GTS, turbo/S, GT3 Touring/RS, GT2 RS, R, Sport Classic, Dakar, S/T etc.

163-44 last night, quite a famous scoreline.

Indeed.

However the Lions did it through scoring 26.7 rather than how the Cats did it with 24.19. Which had the Lions replicated the 2007 GF Cats it would have been another freaky instance of the oversupply of 9s and 1s vs RFC in the last two rounds.

Also amazing that the Suns scored 164 on Thursday night. Two teams from the same state scoring in the mid 160s in the same round. FMD. Brisbane scored 163 and it wasn’t the highest score of the round or even the highest score from a team in their state. 😂

Ess beat n.melb in their last g.f last year. McKay took 2MP to the cleaners that day. N.melb very happy to show Sir Benny the door, to grab another midfielder, sadly not Harley, but I digress. Fast forward to this year,in their next grand final, Sir Benny restricts “Souva”, 2MP kicks four, and you have the two Essendon bookends pretty much best on.
Amazing coincidence Rod Stroker

Oh FFS.

The RFC W/L is now 1-9.

Port's previous Kardinia Park win against Geelong was in 2007 by a goal or less, the week before they defeated Hawthorn by less than a goal. Their next win at Kardinia Park against Geelong was in 2024 by a goal or less, the week after they defeated Hawthorn by less than a goal.

GWS captained by #4 with 4 letters in his first name beat Geelong by 4 points. It's the 4th year in a row GWS has beaten Geelong at KP and has handed Geelong it's 4th loss in a row. Leading goal kicker was Riccardi with 4 goals and EX GWS players at Geelong had 4 scoring shots, one of them being #4 with 4 tackles and 4 frees against, the other with 4 handballs and Geelongs marks by players were more commonly 4 per player, GWS had 4 tackles inside 50 and 4 more free.

4 f*cks sake…

Coincidence/bizarre occurrence.

True as of time of posting; R12 2024.

There are two teams in the competition who have had just one loss or one win after having both played eleven games. The Swans are 10-1 and Richmond are 1-10 and the other team is the reason for them not being winless/undefeated due to the Tigers’ victory against the Swans in R3.

So strange that this far into the season the team that can’t beat anyone else has beaten the only team that no other team can overcome and the equally bewildering inverse phenomenon of the team that has defeated every other club they’ve played couldn’t beat the only side that no other team has failed against. This situation surely can’t hold for much longer? How mad would it be if it lasts the whole season?

FWIW Geelong is due to play both of these teams in their next two games. If the Cats lose to Richmond in Geelong tonight and then beat the Swans in Sydney next week it will be the most epic WTF continuation of this craziness.

Hawthorn vs Brisbane 2023
15.8.98 vs 11.7.73
25 point victory to the underdog

Hawthorn vs Brisbane 2024
15.10.100 vs Brisbane 10.15.75
25 point victory to the underdog

Same margin and only 2 points off both sides kicking the exact same amount of points.

Not a big coincidence by comparison to others, but damn close to being an identical final result between the same two sides.

It brought to mind the 2006 finals series...
