He has copped a bit of a roasting from members here last season but I thought the way he played his footy today was all class. 28 disposals one behind cox who lead for the WCE, and chipped in for a goal as well.

Just thought it would be nice to show some credit when due.:thumbsu:

As his sponsor for 2011, I'm happy that after a sub-standard pre-season he really shone today. A few iffy disposals but for the most part was very good.

Well I've learnt not to judge players on preseason form and trust the selection panel. Well done Embley, I'm sorry, I'll never doubt you again.

lol'ed

Solid finish to some early shanks.

Wasn't cringing so much when he had the ball at the end, unlike Lynch :p

Deserved the roasting he got last season, on most occassions he was terrible, but today he played a great game. Hopefully can keep it up.

TBH I am a critic

... his problem was never getting the ball ...that he does well... its what he does with it is the problem.

Actually its a double wammy.

Here lies the problems those who get it most and turn it over more often than others... ( note worded nicely ) are a serious problem.

Suggestion: Read Karl Langdon's article in the Sunday Times ...spot on to a tee.

Last two seasons Embley... the King of Clangers.

On a positive it was so very refreshing to see Gaff actually hit targets by foot. AMEN and AMEN.... there is hope :):thumbsu:

Spent allot of time in defence in the first quarter, mabye as the spare man?

Nah, started on the wing, S.Selwood was in the middle, but then Harvey started in the middle, so A.Selwood (who was at Half back) went in the middle, S.Selwood went to the wing, Embley went to half back.

Was just match-ups.

Must admit I had concerns after his preseason and felt that he would be under pressure to keep his spot if he didn't perform

he was good tonight and proved his value. Hopefully he can maintain that sort of form

Embley played a great game. The last three seasons he has always had a much better second half of the season than first half which made me wonder about his pre-season training.

He was best on ground in the first half before tampering off in the second but at one stage his disposal efficiency was at 82%.

If the senior players like Cox, Embley, Glass, Kerr and Lynch can all play to their best form we will win a lot more games than last year.

agree with this. he played a good game last night. i think his form needs to be monitored this season and he should get games if he can keep playing at this level.

would hate to see him automatically getting picked every week if he reverts to last year's form. there are enough young players coming through now to put pressure on selectors.

he is a bit of a contract player. Played one amazing game against the doggies a couple of years ago, then bang new 2 year deal and he was shit again. Might be his last year if he keeps up last years form but he was one of our best on the weekend. Must be thinking about renewing his contract

maybe when youre surrounded by incompetence on the field, it (somehow) saps your own levels?..probably not..and now that the general malaise has improved a little, so the seniors feel theyre not just wasting their energy and time...maybe they know its their last year..maybe they got a serious rocket up them from the coach - i believe they did/reading such.

anyway good to see the real seniors back on board again..instead of their ghosts.

Had a great game, certainly up there in the votes for mine. Hopefully he can play well this year throughout. Should really be leading from the front against Port Adelaide this week as away games are normally his forte.
