Eagles fans, would you take pick 8?
Think it could be a win/win for both parties...especially if Gaff decides he'd like to return to VIC it's as good an offer the Eagles will get.

Id prefer not to trade him . He is a known quantity rather than pick 8 which could turn out a dud .Eagles fans, would you take pick 8?
No he hasn't it's just the OP and his obsession with trading .Has Gaff indicated a desire to return to Victoria, is the question I suppose. I get what you're saying. He'd still be restricted FA next year though I'm assuming.
A trade for an inside mid rather than a pick would make more sense though, in an ideal world? You still have the spine to be very good, I would've thought - considering what a fit Naitanui brings to the table

We've got inside mids and we've got outside mids, but what we're missing is star mids. Shuey is our best, and most outsiders would rate him a top 20 mid in the comp at best. Take our midfield and just one Kelly/Martin/Danger/JP Kennedy etc. to it and it improves significantly.
So because he suggests Gaff may/may not be worth a first round pick he's trolling?
Cmon now
No he hasn't it's just the OP and his obsession with trading .
Loosing priddis and Mitchell is going to be hard trading Gaff away for a draft pick would send us in a norf like spiral down the ladder
I'd give pick 8
I dont thin West Coast would even pretend to fight. Theyd snap that up and sign the deal ASAP.
Even though we'd be likely to get better compo for him in a year?
Lol. 2 x 1st round picks for Gaff like Geelong got for Ablett?
What did you get for Selwood?
What?
Gaff would be band 1 - a pick after our first.
Finishing 12th or 13th next year?
And you reckon he will get $800k a year offers or higher?
Nah those two are far better than Sidebottom. He is a handy player but isn't elite in any areas, and it seems only Collingwood supporters tend to realise this. What? I rate Sidebottom, a lot more than the two Ex GW$ Twits (Treloar and Adams)
Gaff is an extremely durable winger who has a huge tank and does exactly what is required of him. Scully got more than that a few years ago, with how player payments are Gaff would definitely be worth 800k a year.
Gaff has 7-8 more quality years of football in him and he misses once in a blue moon, he has scope to be the next player to 400 games.
You cant really use GWS or GCS examples unless they are going to GCS now. The Scully offer was ridiculous.
He's an AA and a B&F winner, Gaff gets 800k. A 2018 compo pick for them is much better than a first rounder this year; also, as an RFA if his offer isn't enough to net them a first round compo do you think they won't match it?
If they get an offer better than that, they'll do the deal now; but if they don't, he stays and goes as an RFA.
Clubs that match offers for players who want to leave get all the bad news they deserve.
If someone wants to go you let them go.

Over-simplification.Clubs that match offers for players who want to leave get all the bad news they deserve.
If someone wants to go you let them go.
Over-simplification.
Players are professionals, who incidentally signed off on the current RFA rules. Whether they like it or not, they have no choice but to accept it. RFA has existed in sports overseas for decades, it doesn't seem to be a problem there at all.
Bryce Gibbs' situation is a reasonable example. Though the mechanism for him staying is different (contracted as opposed to matching a RFA offer), essentially the problem is the same (holding a player at your club who wants to play his footy somewhere else). It doesn't seem to have affected Bryce at all, his form has been really good.
Happy to be corrected...but I don't see to much bad news occurring given it has never actually happened
