Wasn't he snapped up by ESSEN b4 our 2nd pick ?Glad to see we went with an SA kid but I would have gone with Houlahan.
After our 2nd pick, at 49 I believeWasn't he snapped up by ESSEN b4 our 2nd pick ?
My bad ....you're correct as usualAfter our 2nd pick, at 49 I believe
Adding another ruckman behind O'Brien and Hunter would be madness. Where would he play ??I personally was hoping we'd take Hayes as I reckon we have ruck depth issues.
Kicking action is different, but my god, he moves exactly like Smithers.
Kicking action not that different either.
Not by much. Smithers swings his leg out wide. McPherson looks to have a much more orthodox action.
I don't see smithers in him... But his decision making screams laird to me. Super quick passes to the right target in defence.. Thats laird.Kicking action is different, but my god, he moves exactly like Smithers.
Nah, 36 in the Goody mould who started off half back.
Nah. Only there for one yearI think you probably know this lads dad elite ex CBC boy think he now teaches there around your age

That's what I saw ... crazy same.Kicking action is different, but my god, he moves exactly like Smithers.
Assuming you rate those two as genuine optionsAdding another ruckman behind O'Brien and Hunter would be madness. Where would he play ??
Pick 40 - Adelaide - Andrew McPherson Woodville-West Torrens 186cm 75kg
This to me is one of those bargains, bit like Burton was for the Hawks a couple of years ago. McPherson should be in the top 20 without a shadow of a doubt.
McPherson is a strong and hard running rebounding defender with excellent leadership qualities. Organises the backline, controls it like a general and uses his very good footskills to great effect. Has a high kick to handball ratio, but is also a capable handballer. Has poise and clearly has smarts, thinks about the game and positions himself accordingly.....he's one of those footballers that is never flat footed, always moving around to think about the next piece of play. Marks well overhead and can also play in the middle, but that side of his game needs more work. Eventually though he could well become a midfielder who goes back from time to time. Probably not blessed with great pace or that hard burst power but more calculated runs and steps, his general acceleration and pace is pretty much right on par for most AFL midfielders so nothing to worry about. Mostly a pretty neat player but certainly not afraid of body contact and is quite capable inside....186cm atm and visually slender and with some more meat has good height for a modern midfielder.
His first couple of years will probably be off a half back flank where he can use his skills and smarts to set up play. Mature beyond his years and vocal on field so could easily end up in a leadership group from an early age.
Whilst the crow do have a few types with similar traits such as Smith, Laird, Seedsman, Kelly, McPherson is more of a proper half back general than those guys, be hard pressed to be a better footballer than Laird but that's the sort of level he could reach or at least go close which would certainly be a fine footballer.
I didn't consider anyone else here simply due to the fact I felt he was best available and being local made the decision even easier.
30. ANDREW McPHERSON (Woodville-West Torrens)
186cm halfback
Underage numbers suggest he could be an Alex Witherden-type steal. In 2016 SANFL under-18s he averaged 27 disposals and 132 SuperCoach points as a half-back flanker.
SAM SAYS: Quad and hamstring injuries ruined the rebounding runner’s year. Unreliable body likely to push him into the third round. Carlton might consider at No.30
Pick 37-West Coast- Andrew Mcpherson- With the delisting of Sharrod Wellingham and retirement of Sam Butler and Shannon Hurn only having a couple of years left till retirement I think the Eagles should pounce on Mcpherson. Mcpherson was a potential to be inside the top 20 however sadly had a injury riddled season and only playing 3 games in 2017. Mcpherson played in the under 18 SANFL grand final and had 31 disposals, 9 marks and 6 rebound 50s being one of the best in the grand final which is a phenominal effort. If you take the risk on Mcpherson who dominates in the half back and pushes mid despite his injury riddled year I think he can turn out to be worth the risk. A player ive been focusing on for awhile and could is more than likely to slide 50+ but with the potential he has WCE should pounce.
