no I agree, but the reality is any half decent ruck takes years to develop and ROB is no worse than the Angus Graham-recycled-backups of this world - much better in actual fact.
I have no doubt ROB is better than Graham or the other usless brick we got from Hawthorn. Other than Sauce our club doesnt have an eye for ruckman.

Lowden & Graham cost us next to nothing, and were only ever expected to play in the SANFL unless something happened to Jacobs. There are only so many ready made ruckmen available each year who fit that description.

Thoughts on him, as to why you believe he'll be a 200 game player?

Injury savaged him this year otherwise, would've been gone by Pick 25 i suspect.
Very Very good Footballer, obviously, but i think mentally is what will get him over the top unlike so many others.
He's a leader, listens, tireless worker, incredibly coachable, has a 35 year old head on an 18 year old body.

:thumbsu: .....but what keeps him in the AFL for 200 games ......his game strengths?

You were describing a Van Berlo type character ......but i'm interested in his footy skills .....IQ, speed, kicking, marking ect?

Great decisions, Very high speed and Kicking ability.
Positions himself very well around the ground without the ball, and very courageous.
All of the above is basically what separates him from NVB. However he was a captain and 200 gamer as well. Could do worse at pick 40

The "plays like" suggestions for Liam Ryan are absolutely hilarious.

Ryan is a 179cm forward. But he plays like Josh J Kennedy, Jack Riewdolt, Ben Brown and Jeremy Cameron.

Sam Taylor, a 196cm key defender, plays like Neville Jetta.

You couldn't make this shit up.

Didn’t Champion Data say at the start of this year that Richmond was one of the best midfields and were ridiculed for it?

Looking forward to some efficient lead - mark - kick - goal play from Liam Ryan! :rainbow:

Have they assessed the 2018 midfields yet? Reckon with Crouch boys and now Gibbs we will rank pretty highly.

Yeah but they also put Collingwood top:
CHAMPION DATA ranks the midfields for the 2017 season.

1 Collingwood
2 GWS Giants
3 Western Bulldogs
4 Richmond
5 Sydney
6 Port Adelaide
7 St Kilda
8 Geelong
9 West Coast
10 Fremantle
11 Adelaide
12 Hawthorn
13 Essendon
14 Gold Coast
15 Brisbane Lions
16 Carlton
17 North Melbourne
18 Melbourne

I suspect we will get a big boost given the Crouch's and Greenwood's improvement in the past 12 months and the addition of Gibbs
