I think it’s great. It’s two fleas arguing about the nature of the dog they live on
It is, but one flea knows they live on a dog, and it accepts that it doesn't know the precise origin of the dog. The other flea believes the dog was built in the owner's phantasmagorical workshop, and the owner's name is Jim. And Jim has always lived there.

Religious freedom... Jesus!

To be fair i know murray quite well personally and while i dont agree with all of his views on religion he is a thoroughly decent guy who actually genuinely does a lot for a lot of people that most of society doesnt help at all. As for the article i dont agree with all of it but i dont see anything particularly offensive either. Its an opinion piece.

Pretty poor by essendon sacking this guy over an opinion and expressing his views and beliefs, especially after preaching the importance of inclusiveness and accepting of all people, no matter their religious or cultural beliefs.
Denying other human beings basic dignity is not a belief.

You can't tolerate intolerance. That's not how it works.

Why do people think believing in a god gives you a free pass to do whatever you like?

Nah it’s fine he was a dodgy campaigner anyway, regardless of religion.

His "church" is a joke anyway, it's sounds more like an assortment of drunks whinging about political correctness gone mad with a side hustle of tax free grifting. I don't think god has much to do with it at all.

So EFC are going to make a donation to Thornburn's charity of choice the " Ethics Institute". So do they help kids with Cancer or something noble like that or or are they just a IPA think tank wrapped up as a Charity like the GG's leadership charity.

Shocked the nominated charity wasn’t the Human Fund.

I would point out that where he chastises Andrews for the comment "“I don’t support those views, that kind of intolerance, that kind of hatred, bigotry, is just wrong." he highlights the simple phrase Thorburn could have so easily spoken at the very beginning to snuff out the entire issue.

The actual problem was an still is that he did not "Loudly".

Religious freedoms my arse.

Not really.

'intolerance' is often a matter of viewpoint and perspective.

Who is to say what is and isn't acceptable intolerance?
There are some pretty big, fat cases that form the bulk of it.

For all others go to first principles.

Another article where Christians bleat about being persecuted when the teeny-tiniest thing doesn't go their way. Give me strength.
