This is so great. Growing up in the 80s you experienced structural homophobia almost daily, it was on tele, you heard at school and from people you cared about, it's just how it was for gay people then. I personally don't , however he and his seemingly publicly backed views (least in SEN this morning), had the potential to hurt many aka thousands of Essendon stakeholders (supporters and members) and clearly the EFC were inundated with unhappy members calls and emails threatening club membership cancellations for appointing this bloke.

Also given the crap and controversy regarding the Hawthorn Footy Club and their alleged human rights violations accuations over the past 2 weeks, it's absolutely idiotic why Essendon would appoint a bloke like him in the first place.

Gay people and women who have or wanted to have abortions have had plenty of shame/humiliation (public or otherwise) in the past, your sympathy for him is well intentioned if misguided.
