I see he has been named as emergency, surely if he is right to go then he plays, pretty simple. Do you think someone will make way for him tomorrow?

Ratts made it clear that he was not going to pick any underdone players like last year round 1. The footage of Fev on Ch 10 news worried me a bit :( time will tell though.

That's what i'm saying. If he is named emg then he must be fit to play. Odd one really.

Mmm i dunno about that footage on Channel 10, they over-exaggerated a fair bit proclaiming he had an "obvious limp". It was barely there and the footage was only about 5 seconds long. I wouldn't be to worried, he should be fine.

Let's hope he comes in then if he is ok. If he is not fit why name him emergency? I have not seen the footage of him. I understand he's underdone but if is not in the picture then name someone who is!!

This is exactly my thoughts posted on the Dream Team board. The other times I've seen this done is when a club makes a "surprise" last minute inclusion of the good player on the emerg list. I understand the Blues being shy of playing underdone players but if he really is underdone he shouldn't have been named on the emerg list.

Simple. He'll play in the VFL to make sure his fitness/match conditioning is where it needs to be come next week. If someone does pull out, he'd be an ideal inclusion, as even though he might be a touch underdone in terms of match conditioning, he's a better option than pretty much anyone else fit to play at the moment.

Feeling there might be a late change. He was training fully with the main group but here was word his hammy was feeling a little tight at the end of the session. I get the feeling he was out as an emergency because of this and to play games with the Tigers. But it wont be one of the debutants making way as they were given their player pins before training.
Lets be serious here. He has played more Footy than scotland this pre-season and would be infront of a few guys in our team. Feeling we might see Scotland a late withdrawal.

Scotland trained really strongly and looked sharp. I believe that he will play. I also overheard him saying to one of the assistant coaches "I proved you wrong didn't I?" If Walker comes in it will be for Fev.

Can someone tell me how Andrew Walker is any less fit than Scotland?? For what ive heard Scotland hasnt done a pre-season and Walker was absolutely flying until his mishap. From the information i have i would suggest AW has better fitness at this stage than Scotland would.

I find this weeks selection very strange

So why the hell is Scotland playing then, stupid decision.

Scotty has played more this pre-season than Walks AFAIK, due to the mishap. Scotty had post season surgery with no setbacks and has been carefully managed to get to this point. If Nick Stevens was available then Scotty might have been given another week.

It's round 1. Plenty of time to get them right and get them in.

I agree walker should be in if fit. But to take Scotland out for him is not right. Walker won't play HB. So who would you take out of the starting line up for walker? Johnston? Wiggins?

Walker will come straight in for Garlett when his fitness is up to it.

It astounds me after all that Tex has been through, that if the club think he needs another week or so that people don't respect it.

The same posters would probably be the first to blame the club for "rushing him in" if he did play and injured himself.

I normally wouldn't bump a thread like this, but it must be said......Scotland, while short of a gallop looked fine, and Wiggo was one of our best, especially around the packs and up the ground. Let himself down with goal kicking (again) but took some very important marks and won some very important contests in the first two quarters.

Apologies from anyone?

Anyone see Cousins ping his Hammy last night after it was worked on at 3qtr time....everyone including himself thought he'd be right for another run.

Same situation with Walks is playing this week and the physios are being extra cautious this year and have a new system in place...Its exactly right what was said earlier in this thread, if he hurt the shoulder again supporters would be calling for Rattens head saying he was rushed in.

if he gets through this week he'll play i'd say...after such a good performance last night he may strugle tho.

Id say we'd drop Garlett...needs to build his match fitness up to 100%.

The fact is that Walker was more than likely fit enough to play this week, but we went ahead and said we can get through this match without needing him so why risk him? Have him as an emergency in case something dramatic happens and we REALLY need him to step out for the club. How often do we see a situation where a club needs to use multiple emergencies anyway?
