Tank is over, Trey too good. Does it all, most importantly doesn't turn it over and doesn't disappear in the 4th (sounds like the opposite of a certain soon-to-hit-free-agency someone...). Playing better than D-Will at this stage of their respective careers. Everyone plays better with him on the floor, playing TEAM basketball, not that JL3 crap where everyone wants to score every time they touch it.

But in a way this makes me want the tank even more... Jabari/Wiggins + Trey = elite...

Wow, how good is Trey Burke going to be!? Doesn't hesitate or take a backward step. The Jazz will be a serious threat in a few seasons.

Is it just me or does Favors and BIG T not get the love they deserve ?

They both had excellent games today. Favors is a double double machine and awesome defender. Kanter had struggled a bit before today so it was good he got 20 points and 10 boards. They are both coming along really well I think.

Kanter's ankle has been an issue for a while now ....

Kanter's a frustrating player. Was dynamite from midrange and put in his best defensive effort (which has been downright horrible at times this season) for the year vs Indy, but man some of those misses from in close were costly as well as those back to back turnovers. Needs to let the game come to him.

Nothing but love for Favors.

So anyone wanna explain why Burks, who was playing one of his best games and has been rolling for about 6 games now, was sat down the stretch in favour of Jefferson? I know we're tanking, but this year is also about developing and evaluating our talent. Let the young players in the clutch, can only be good for them and we get to see what they're made of. The likes of Jefferson, who has been horrible lately, shouldn't be eating into minutes of potential core players. And even if Corbin was trying to win, go with the hot hand.

Also, why doesn't Gobert get any minutes while Harris/Biedrins keep playing? Harris played alright in the first game, but really is lucky to be in the league. Biedrins offers nothing that Gobert doesn't. Ughhh, makes me mad. God I hate Corbin.

Pardon the abrupt question, but... where's Enes Kanter at?

Has really regressed badly. Has been horrible on defense, like Al Jefferson/Boozer bad. Needs to get some campaigner about him. Very inconsistent on offense but the ability is there.

In saying that, he should be starting. Plays better as a starter, and we should still be developing him as one. Should trade Marvin ASAP, give Enes 30mpg+ for the rest of the season as the starting 4, then we'll see what we really have.

Also I get the feeling Corbin hates him or something, no player seems to be punished for mistakes more.

Far be it from me to stick up for Corbin (whom I do not rate, at all), but I thought that part of the problem was that Favors and Kanter really don't seem to play well together?

Certainly your offense has looked better with Burke healthy and an extra shooter on the floor (Jefferson/Marvin), so I can understand the decision to bring Kanter off the bench for now.

The other day he played something like 12 minutes and registered doughnuts and a poor +/- .... as a third year 'core player' on a young team, that's an alarming development. If you guys follow the league trend and go 'small ball' with Favors at C, is it possible Kanter might become trade bait?

Hopefully not at this stage, would be stupid as his value's at it's lowest. But a definite possibility in the off season, depending on form/staff changes and what not. I actually think we're a better team with Marvin as a stretch 4, just think developing/evaluating Kanter is a bigger priority.

Wasn't really given that much of a chance to start with Favors, about 12 games IIRC. And that was with JL3/Tinsley as the starting PG.

This is very true.

Also true that development is a bigger priority for you guys this season rather than wins. I wonder if it's possible to successfully make some kind of 6th/7th man out of him? He should dominate second string big men as a rule.

Watch this space I suppose.

Sigh, I think we're gonna win too many games after all. Our last 2 wins were the first time I've been watching a close game and actually been hoping we lose.

We're 7-11 since Trey came in. We keep that up for the rest of the year (I think that's reasonable, no?), we win 28 games. That's the same as Sacramento last year who picked 7th, not high enough. I'm a firm believer that you need superstar to win the league, the draft (read; tanking) is the only way for a team like Utah to get one and this is supposedly one of the best drafts ever.

How hard is it to lose for a season ffs?

Another thing I hate about Corbin, along with his veteran infatuation and the the fact that he can't coach basketball, is his double standards with some of our players. Burks and Kanter have to earn every minute, might get 30 minutes on a good night and if they make a couple of mistakes they're in the dog house. Yet Hayward, Trey and Favors get their 35+ every night no matter how much they suck.

Now I don't have a massive problem with the latter part, although I think you should earn your minutes in some respect, but Burks for some reason doesn't get the same treatment. This guy is BETTER than Hayward, and has a much higher ceiling. And why the **** is RJ still starting over him?

I swear Corbin hates Kanter, and for some reason refuses to play him at the 4 where IMO he's more suited. Every time he makes a mistake or 2 he gets dragged. How is he going to learn when he's scared to make mistakes?

At least the tank may be back on track :thumbsu:

Just looking at the players we let go last year

Millsap - good role player -> all star
Al - higher ppg and rpg, near all star
DMC - getting about 10mpg off the bench -> starter on a playoff team
Foye - higher ppg/apg in less minutes
Mo - 6th man in a contending team

I'd have to think all those blokes are happier where they are. You just know whoever the odd man out is (draft pending) is gonna go on to be a star at another team. If we don't have a new coach by the start of next year, I'm gonna stop watching until we do.

And Ty Corbin ends his reign of terror with a big **** you to every Jazz fan. It better be ending.

Shit season. Core5 should have started the whole season. Why we didn't offload Marvin and RJ is beyond me, took valuable minutes from Kanter, Burks, Evans, Gobert and even Clarke (obvious potential, with guys like him it might just take a few good games, hell even a few good quarters, for them to start thinking "shit, maybe I can make it"). And only managed the 4/5 seed.

So unless we luck into the lottery, we're probably picking 5 or 6. There's not a whole lot in the way of great fits outside of Wiggins and Parker, unless we draft a either of them someone's gonna find themselves on the outer, assuming Hayward stays. Or is Aaron Gordon an option for the 3? Is Hayward our small forward? A free agent perhaps?
