Anyone going to the Gold Coast game, especially to the "Lounge"as per the package offered by HFC?

I'll be driving down for the game. I'm hoping they play Saturday arvo or night. Brisbane has had terrible traffic for years now so i doubt i'd get there in time for the opening bounce. What's the lounge? I'm just a regular interstate member.

Anyone got any idea if there is going to be some sort of "lottery" for interstate members to get their ticket? I remember from the last game at the Gabba in 2008 (sheesh it's been that long), that due to the limited away team ticket allocation and the high number of QLD members they had to do a "lottery". I'm wondering if it will be different at Metricon since the GC are the only tennants so potentially their could be more tickets available?

I asked the club if they were doing a members function and they were keen that included food drink and premium seat and are now saying the lounge is a good deal.
I will be buying a Premium Reserved seat (yes I am a member) but I don't want to sit behind the goals. They have free buses from nearly everywhere on the Coast so will be going to the Casino for drinks and food either before or after the game.

We will more than likely be the 2pm game so the boys can get the last flight out of the Coast Saturday night.

Just by pure chance all my qld clients will be seen on this weekend from the Thurs to the Mon. Tough job but somebody has to do it. I don't think there will be that many there but I'm looking forward to seeing this stadium after seeing snapshots of it being built over the last couple of years.

For those driving up or hiring a car forget about parking there. Figure out the transport before you go.

Work just asked me if I wanted to go to TechEd this year, I initially shuddered at having to sit thru a few days of Micro$oft crapola, but then I saw the venue:
Gold Coast... bing!
then I checked the dates:
30Aug to 2nd Sep...bing !!

So when will we know the exact date/time of the game??

I also booked a family holiday leaving wednesday returning monday.
Only problem is I booked flights with tiger and now who knows if they will be flying by then or if at all. Cant do anything at the moment till they cancel the flights for then.

Also emailed the club for ticketing information and still have no reply. Does anyone know when tickets will go sale for this game?

Totally looking forward to this game, as some have already stated it's been 2008 when they last played a home and away up here, and what a game that was, Buddy 8 goals 6 points.

My only problem is where do I sit for the game, being an interstate gold member I'm guaranteed a ticket to the game, or and being like many AFL fans up here who jumped on board the Suns with a membership sit in my reserved seat. Think I'll take the Hawthorn option and sit with the members. And those Hawk fans coming up you won't be disappointed Metricon Stadium is fantastic and the Suns really turn it on with bands etc.

See you all up here

Let's hope that the weather isn't too hot for this match.

If it is, I hope the club is in a position where they can choose to play the kids up there, given that our likely opponent will have played the night before at the MCG.

Will also be there, also booked a "family holiday" now just hoping tickets will be available as packages are already available on the afl sight but not just stand alone tickets for some reason.

What I am trying to establish here is how to get the best seats.

Hawthorn members have been allocated seating in the southern stand and as usual they are close to the worse seats in the house. As always, the host club allocates their crappiest seats to visiting team members.

The Lounge package provides excellent seating, but at $225 per head for a buffet meal and game ticket ?

I did a dummy run on making a booking for the Adelaide game and could get seats at $59 in the Gold A section, shown as red on the Metricon Stadium seating plan. However the section was U which is not in the red zone and is almost behind the posts on the opposite end to the Hawthorn allocation.Very confusing. Impossible to talk to ticketmaster to verify details.

So my question is, has anyone been to Metricon and if so were they able to obtain good seats and if so how was it done?

It appears that tickets are not yet on sale for the general public yet good seats have been included in package deals.Oh well, who cares about the ordinary fans who just want to see a game of football in good seats. It is now all about corporations.

I am rapt that it is a daylight game, might be able to see some of the play.

I also did a dummy run for tickets and eventually worked out the number system.
U is actually Upper and L Lower.... so U08 is upper 08 but on some seating plans the same section is referred to as 208. This section is Gold A
Now I think Gold B is example L12 or 112.....so section 12 on level one which is the lower level..............hope this is a little clearer.....
We are also going.

Lord Mud, thanks for this. I'm heading up, and its very frustrating not being able to get tickets yet, as I've got flights and accomodation sorted...so I'd love to get the final piece of the puzzle locked away.

I won't be doing "The Lounge", I'll just be going for GA or reserved GA. Appreciate the efforts you're making to find out where we'll be sitting.

I've only done one interstate match before, at Aurora, and being the prize jackass that I am, managed to sit myself in the midst of Geelong supporters! So I will try not to do that again!

As has been verified, I rang Ticketmaster/tek yesterday, and they didn't know the on-sale date. So I'll keep checking this thread.
