just got a call from the club if i was interested in donating to the clubs ongoing changes to the ground development at arden street. dont have any problem with this but its been a big yr in debt reductiuon and weve all done a great job as supporters to give what we can.

just didnt expect the club to go down the cold calling routine. so if you have some spare cash to give let them know.

could of been as these scammers get pretty proffessional especially the antivirus callers, keep an ear out for it, it was all about the ground extension which is happening, if it is a scam i wonder where they get the membership list from

Yeah its probably legit if they know your membership details and the forms look official etc.

Something is odd - sounds like the beggars had quite specific details on the appeal.

Apparently someone called for me when I ducked out to the bottle shop and some woman from the club called but said they would call back. I haven't had the person call back but if they do I will see if I can scrounge some details about who they are or get some contact details. My phone at home doesn't have caller id identification, does anyone know if their number showed up when they called?

As to the ground development, we got a grant to fix it up. I wasn't aware we had planned to do anything else with the ground that wasn't factored in the grant.

i have the details , strange that it was a mobile number and when i called it back this morning, it came back with an automated message or go straight through to voicemail.

will be calling the club back on monday to pass on the details, a warning should be posted on the website if others are recieving similar calls.

didnt get an email, but they may of mixed me up with my cousin who is in the elite club sponsership level lol

Whenever I get called up for anything really who are from my bank, insurer, club or whatever, including the morons who rock up to my home, I tell them to send me a letter instead of rock up to my house or call me. It is just extremely unprofessional to call up or rock up out of the blue and extremely inefficient use of resources. I am not giving my banking details to some moron on the phone or someone who comes to my house and I don't like to be forced to make a decision on what I want to support or not support on the spot without having more information about what it is about.

I don't think the club gets the extent of the money they would from a raffle the club runs. I'd rather give some cash to the club directly than be involved with these third parties.

this....and therefore why would the club want a third-party using the Arden St ground development as a carrot. The way i read it above, i wouldn't think this money is directed at the ground development.

It could be the legitimate raffle thing but could have been some pushy/incompetent telemarketer pushing for a sale. If that's the case the club should know because it reflects poorly.

I don't know whether your bolded comment is true or not, but I have been told by someone who works at the club that NMFC does actually make a lot of money out of the $200 raffle tickets.
