Agree with all those who think Kreuger does not ruck predominantly, but remains forward mostly to play the role of McStay. I think he can occasionally alternate with Ash J, but Ash to do most of the rucking in forward half.
Would have liked to see McCrae in the 22 to help us smash them in the midfield, but understand that there was no one who deserved to lose their place.
Therefore, McCrae as the tactical sub, and if we need extra midfield power, he gets subbed in tactically.
We defeated St Kilda without a recognised ruck.
St Kilda are currently top of the ladder.
So, we have the capacity (with our pressure on the contested ball and ball carrier, with the precision skills in kicking accuracy and handball/knockons) to overcome our deficits in the ruck. We need to bring top level ferocity to this game.
The mental toughness of our team is creating ripples throughout the competition, and I have no doubt we will bring it in spades tomorrow. Pies by 17 points.

Yes, hopefully. But with his history of concussion, who knows? The return of Big Cox can’t come soon enough, too.

We’re running on fumes!

Never thought I would see the day where I would be praying for big Cox.......

Yet here we are 😱

Quaynor is deceptively strong. He could do it too.

Ordinarily I’d have agreed with you but Q has been way off his best so far this season. Fumbly, looking panicked, unable to keep his feet and making some terrible turnovers by hand and foot.

It has been quite surprising given all the pre-season talk that he was set to go to a new level, a lock for AA, etc. maybe he read too much of his own press?

Whatever the reasons, no way I’d be trusting him to quell Stringer in this game.

The good news I guess is that there’s lots of upside to Q from his current level of output/impact. I feel a bit similarly about Crisp and Elliott. They’re also both well short of their best form so far in 2023. Let’s hope it’s Anzac Day that they rediscover it!

They’ve gone in very tall

Bit worried about that given the beautiful weather expected

If I was them I’d just load up that forward line with talls and bomb it in there.

They’ll have Davey and Stringer at their feet at worst

Tall??....They dropped Jones and have Weideman as the tall forward, with one of Phillips or Draper alternating dropping forward. I can't see where they're overly tall.
We will have Moore, with Frampton down back. I see Krueger and AJ rucking majority of the time, and if we need to change things up, Frampton can go in there, with Krueger probably dropping back to help out the defensive structure.

Random thoughts….

Really hope Kreuger can contribute in ruck, but struggle to imagine his shoulders holding up.

Where we are really missing Coxy and Cameron is in the chop out work they contribute in defence and their forward threat.

Surprised McRae/Macrae/Fin/Macca is sub.
God help us if Kelly plays.

Reckon Maynard plays tall and Ruscoe pushes to Murphy’s 3rd man up.

Because you now, we’ll need a Tray.

They have a bunch of guys around 190-192cm who are awkward matchups given our outs. But agree, they don’t have real height that should exploit the position we’re in.

I know it won’t happen but I’d prefer we kept the Johnson/frampton ruck combo and play Kreuger at key defence.
I certainly prefer that Frampton remain in the ruck as he seems our best chance against Essendon's in form guys. Not so sure about Kreuger in defence, but if we lack height against our opponents we may not have any real option.

Dulce et Decorum Est

BY WILFRED OWEN

Bent double, like old beggars under sacks,
Knock-kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge,
Till on the haunting flares we turned our backs,
And towards our distant rest began to trudge.
Men marched asleep. Many had lost their boots,
But limped on, blood-shod. All went lame; all blind;
Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hoots
Of gas-shells dropping softly behind.

Gas! GAS! Quick, boys!—An ecstasy of fumbling
Fitting the clumsy helmets just in time,
But someone still was yelling out and stumbling
And flound’ring like a man in fire or lime.—
Dim through the misty panes and thick green light,
As under a green sea, I saw him drowning.

In all my dreams before my helpless sight,
He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning.

If in some smothering dreams, you too could pace
Behind the wagon that we flung him in,
And watch the white eyes writhing in his face,
His hanging face, like a devil’s sick of sin;
If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood
Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs,
Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud
Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues,—
My friend, you would not tell with such high zest
To children ardent for some desperate glory,
The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est
Pro patria mori.

Remember learning that poem at school-believe he died only a few days before the armistice

No way is Frampton not rucking 80% today
