I'm really surprised none of you picked up on that one.

Shift work completely messes up your calender sometimes, I didn't even realise what day it was.

Colin Barnett is a pole smoker, does more backflips than a gymnast.

What a joke if WA's centerpiece is named after a Chinese mining company.
I have no issue with the name, you can't be picky, nor does a Chinese mining companies name bother me.

I do have an issue with Barnetts backflip and selling the naming rights.

OK it's well after midday in WA so I can reveal that this was of course an unelaborate (what's the opposite of elaborate? Anyway I came up with it in about five minutes and just decided to run with it) April Fools Day joke.

Many posters saw through it pretty quickly and called it out, and promptly had their posts deleted for fear of spoiling it for others. Yes, you were right, look at the date, it's a joke, well done.

For the record Shandong Gold is a real mining company operating in WA, and I do expect that the naming rights for the Dong will be sold sometime between now and 2023 when it opens five years behind schedule but Barnett's current position is that they won't be.
I did wonder why noone had said the obvious, you must have been perched over the thread on the delete buttons Fivey. :drunk:

Obvious troll was obvious, but how mighty the Cox would be at the Dong stadium.

Out of interest, what's the new joint going t be called?

Perth Stadium is pretty nuff...
As I said in a previous quote (before I remembered that it was April 1st). I thought that they were going to run a competition for the general public to come up with a name for it.

We have the Graham Farmer Freeway, maybe "Glendening Oval" or "Cable Park" (after Barry Cable)
