Reminder that the Democrats aren't a left-wing party. They're pretty much dead center, sometimes straying left and sometimes right, given that they can't agree on socialized health care and also majorly benefit from corporate greed. People voted for Trump against their own interest because they can't think critically and actually dissect what he says and see it as bs. Less educated people (which studies show to much more likely be conservative) swallow his tripe without a second thought. There's plenty of people who found old nazi or kkk uniforms, memorabilia etc. in their grandparents closet who would have a whole lot of shame at finding it. Interestingly a lot of paramilitary Trump supporting groups also wear nazi shit. That's how I know I'm on the socially correct side as my descendants won't be finding any of that crap.

Back to footy: we may have the next Riewoldt, Cotchin, Dusty, Rance etc. already in the team or about to be drafted but don't know it yet. I'll put my hand up and say that I always thought Rance was only ever going to be a B-grader at best. I got that one completely wrong. But taking games away from those young potential guys and giving it to players from other clubs on 1 year contracts isn't going to help develop them.

I'll stop now and talk only about footy. For those that don't know, I live in the US and things are gonna be really really ****ed here shortly.
Fun Fact: No matter the political leanings, in all elections this year, the incumbent has lost. Get the feeling that people just want a change because of the post COVID issues.

Tigers, lets get this thread back on track with the draw being released today -

  • Not much travel in the early part - upto the bye - 3 interstate trips (2 to Adl and 1 to Syd) - then 3 in the back half of the season.
  • 3 cross town trips to Marvel ... in the 1st half
  • So we're playing mostly at home

I still think we won't beat anyone good - but might sneak upto 3 wins before the bye...

Could not GAF how many games we win as long as we build competitiveness.
Need to:
1. continue to develop a positive, supportive and high standard culture that all players buy into.
2. get games into younger players in positions that suit their strengths
3. develop a competitive game plan that is executable with the talent
4. get some continuity with injury so the game plan has a chance to bed in and create cohesion over time

Just going to enjoy watching young players develop and see potential for the future.

On paper, i feel like the club drafted well & thankfully hit a lot of spots that desperately needed hitting. Ie talls

But, the drafting also have me more worried that next year has potentially "Worst in history" potential. Recruiting lots of talls generally means they are not going to impact for 2-3 years as their bodies require development. Lalor has all the intangibles, but likely does not have the tank yet to impact immediately in a 4qtr way. Taj is coming off injury and will (you would hope) be given a slow build up towards AFL. Smillie has the most "play now" potential. The potential for these kids to make a meaningful impact in 2025 is a weak argument. I really wish they had made a couple of recycled moves - i just don't feel good about what the club will look like in 2025 and i think it will create chaos.

I'm glad they recruited with long term in mind though, that is the right decision. l But we really needed more ready now, cheap/free back-ups to keep the team competitive for 2 years if this was the plan. Clearly even they must be iffy AF on all our talls to recruit so many.

When all the dust settles, I know I'm on the right side of history in supporting women and LGBTQ+ rights, compared to what I've seen from you. I'd ask you to have a taste of your own medicine when you're also asserting things, but that takes the ability to introspect which I haven't seen from you.

Back to footy, same was said of us in 2010 - worst list since Fitzroy etc. That proved wrong.

I don't know why you have such a hard-on for Stringer. He's past his peak, overweight, overpaid, a culture-killer, and was traded for a nothing pick. If we had picked him up, he'd play a couple of years tops, stifling the development of our younger forwards and not setting us up for the future. The club is also aware that the Tassie team will be taking all the draft picks in a few years so maximising our return now is important and then we'll use free agency to attract more senior players now that Cotch/Riewoldt/Dusty's money is off the book.
What rights don’t they have?

And don’t say the right to choose which gender toilet they use

I think we will have a patch of solid performances that will result in a win or 3.

Lynch and Prestia make a big difference and who knows maybe Hopper will show he can play consistently week in week out.

The backline if structured correctly will be quite strong.

Usually you find some developing kids having break out years like Hugo, Ross, Seth, MRJ, Banks.

Then again it could be really really bad. Im up for the journey
