Terrible football. Every game this weekend has been the same, and I've been bored ********less.
Partly due to these crappy new rules (some of which will carry over the the real season
), but the softness of the pre-season will be gone when the real stuff starts. The last few minutes of Ess v Bris was the only decent period of footy that I've seen so far this year.

It is getting stupid, I can't believe we are paying good money to see our game get turned into netball/basketball.

Thank god the rules are only here for the pre-season because if they were for the H&A fixtures I will be taking my membership back to the AFL and jamming it fair and square up where the sun don't shine.
I want what every footy fan wants and that's a hard contest for the ball.
I hope there is someone smart enough in the AFL to work a computer and read these comments so they know how much they are stuffing up our great game.

Too many free kicks!!!!
Watching the Rich vs Haw game at the pub with the sound down, I couldn't believe how soft the game was. Even from a biased Richmond perspective, the amount of free kicks for both sides for what I saw as coincentental contact was phenominal. And he 50 metre penalties for soft contact after a mark.... and what is it with manning up after a pont is paid, less than 10 metres from the 10 metre line? Can't the umpires use their descretion to realise that if players play on after a point straight away, sometimes an opposition player cannot be more than 10m away when a player kicks straight away.
Several times I saw the play stopped for soft frees for both sides where I could not understand why the free was given.
And seriously, with 10 umpires on the ground, how could none of them realise that Stanton? kicked a 9 pointer from 65 metres out against Brisbane???

It destroyed the game. Burt because Demented and Sgt Schultz are so arrogant, they changed the rules so EVERY game will end up like that one.
This is the thin end of the wedge. There will be 50 metres and goals for nothing in every game all year. But because critisism has been stifled by the thugs at the AFL no coach will have the guts to complain.
The game will be a boring game of circle work with no contests. AFL basketball.
At least Ch10 were upfront enough to have a shot clock like in basketball.

Its been rubbish, you cant do anything when its in the air yet you're allowed to do anything you want to a guy with his head over the ball :S. Shocking umpiring.

Well i don't know about that one, i mean well what a match it was last night, but netball is a ******** and ******** up sport so what that new rules football is really ******** up
I must admit I am such a passionate cats fan I was hanging for this game tonight. But the 2nd and 3rd qtr were boring and uneventful. the first and last were fine, but the rest was woeful. As much as I have been a Kingsley slayer I must say good on him for his accuracy tonight. Hope it continues!

Even though it was the mickey mouse cup, tonight's game was the most frustrating I've ever been to.
So many soft and ridiculous umpiring decisions. This new 50m rule is going to change the game irrecoverably.
We won tonight, but I feel depressed at where the game is heading.

It will happen if this **** is continually seen in the H&A season, you'd be dreaming though if you thought the AFL were gonna rectify this anytime soon.
