Sounds like things went as poorly as they could with any CBs or WRs we were interested in long gone

Mixed reaction from Cards' fans online though most seem to like the player but have no confidence that Vance Joseph will use him / use him right after Simmons

Is Kliff Kingsbury on the hot seat in Arizona?

Posted by Mike Florio on June 25, 2021, 7:40 PM EDT

The Cardinals have existed for more than 100 years. No coach of the team has lasted longer than six season. In 2021, Kliff Kingsbury will be halfway there.

Here’s the question: Will he get a fourth season?

With Kyler Murray in the final non-negotiable season of his rookie deal, the Cardinals will have to give him a major payday, as soon as next year. During the relatively inexpensive seasons of Murray’s career, the franchise has failed to make the playoffs. If they go 0-3 with Murray under Kingsbury, it’s not crazy to think Kingsbury will be gone.

Whether and to what extent Murray vouches for Kingsbury could help him. But Murray also could decide after three seasons that, for Murray to get to the next level, he’ll need a next-level coach.

Regardless, the Cardinals don’t tend to exercise excessive patience with their head coaches. Ken Whisenhunt lasted only six years despite taking the team to its only Super Bowl. Bruce Arians got nudged into retirement after five years despite cobbling together a consistent contender. If Kingsbury can’t take a team with one of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL plus plenty of weapons to the postseason in his third crack at doing so, the organization may decide to find someone else to get the most out of Murray.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported Sunday that Chandler Jones has requested a trade from the Cardinals.
Jones is evidently unhappy with his contract and future with the Cardinals. The Cardinals reportedly do not want to trade Jones, and expect him to report to camp. However, a trade would save Arizona $15.5 million in 2021, so it's entirely possible Jones is traded elsewhere prior to the start of the season. Jones is entering the final season his deal, his age 31 season. The pass rusher is coming off the worst season of his nine year career, with PFF grading him 68th among edge rushers in 2020. However, Jones earned PFF's 15th highest grade as an edge rusher in 2019, so another team may be willing to bet that he can return to his previous All-Pro form.

Cardinals signed DL Corey Peters to a one-year contract.
Six months removed from tearing his patellar tendon in Week 10 last year, 33-year-old Peters is still reportedly "ahead of schedule" in his recovery. With Jordan Phillips, Rashard Lawrence, and Leki Fotu on the roster, the former AZ Walter Payton Man Of The Year won't be asked to strain himself while attempting to get back onto the field. Peters at the very least provides veteran depth out of camp.

Good result

Rock solid player

Correlation/causation and all that but we were 6-2 when Peters played last season

That front seven is looking formidable, DBs good too. The D really needs to show itself, been excited to see it go off.
