A two pronged thread here.

Firstly, where's Steven Armstrongs career at? I was lookin forward to seeing him really progress and have a "breakout" year this year alongside Thommo but it really seems to have stalled. I guess I kinda hoped to see their careers take off together like Green n Bruce. Whats happened to Arma, does anyone know? Has he suffered injury or just out of favour with Daniher? I expected to see him come in when all our small forwards went down but Sylvia seems to be the man and even Williams got the nod ahead of him. Bad signs methinks.

My second question is regarding mainly Jolly more than Jamar. I know there are a few people around here who don't like Jols much but I reckon he still has a fair bit to offer. Unfortunately injury hasn't been kind to him this year and has suffered an horrendous lack of opportunity when selected. I think he got 15 mins last week and not too many players have much impact in that sort of time. Will he be surpassed in favouratism by Jamar? Both are similar style ruckmen in terms of they are grunt ruckmen, not Jeff White high flyers and are aggressive (an area Jolly is improving in). Is there room for both on our list or will one request a Simmonds type trade.

Catch ya.

Personally I don't see Arma making it, he doesn't have the body needed for the vigours of AFL football, as you can see he doesn't have the body frame to stack on the kilo's like thommo et al. While he has skills he is also a bit lazy at times a la TJ but the problem with arma is he doesn't have the complete courage or body to be an inside midfielder and lacks pace to be an outside midfielder or forward pocket specialist, it prolly reflects why he was taken at pick 25 of his draft when he was predicted to be a possible top 5 or 10 pick. Clubs prolly saw his development lacking and hence he slipped down, we took the punt and atm it doesn't look like it paid off, but with an abundance of similar types, and being young and skilled, could look for a trade with him.

Jolly is struggling coming back from injury, no questions there, probably lacks match fitness and it's hard to come off the bench and get in to the rhythem of the game after being so long on the sidelines, let alone only coming on to give whitey a quick breather here and there. I haven't seen much of the VFL but Jamar is more then capable at that level, and hasn't been as injury plagued as jols this season I don't think. We probably should keep him on the list as then we have 3 specialist ruckman, although with players like holland, miller etc who can pinch hit in the ruck, should jamar wish to move on you'd expect we could get something for him. Personally believe he should be retained, but like Armstrong a trade isn't out of the question.

Freo would gladly take Armstrong, we are definately looking for any WA midfielders that want to come home. Just to add depth to our list in the midfield, we are sadly lacking in this department at the moment. Armstrong won't set the world alight at fremantle but would be a decent inclusion to our list.

Not sure what we'd offer though. You want any of our players? or do you think picks are more suited.

I heard Armstrongs sister talking to a friend and she said he was looking forward to coming home this year. This was quite a bit earlier in the year.

Sounds good. You think he could crack a game for West Coast? Your midfield is your strength. I doubt you'll trade for him. Will definately be a different story for freo. WOuld likely be a walk up for the bench. And develop into a starter with a bit of luck.

Freo have enough outside receivers as it is, I doubt if they would want another. Freo will target Carr, Stenglein at the trade table and Andrew Swallow in the draft.

I doubt the Eagles would go for Stinger unless he was extremely cheap as we need to save our pennies to keep Judd. We would be after 3 players at minimum wage, so I would think we would stick to our current draft picks or even try to trade someone like Braun/Wirrpunda + our 2nd pick to one of the struggling clubs for another 1st round selection.

Carr would definately be our priority. But i personally wouldn't mind swapping farmer or Dion Woods for someone like Armstrong.

Couldn't see Melb doing either of them ideas.

Not Farmer anyway.

Give us Grover and it would be a bit more likely.

Farmer is a no-option for Melbourne, but with McLean, Thompson and Sylvia all ahead of Arma atm who knows what the club will do with him. Much would depend on wether he wanted to go back home or not obviously but I think he is definitely worth another year.
We should keep both Jolls and Jamar, unless another club makes an offer we con't refuse. In the long term I think Jamar will be a better player.

Obviously the Bali bombings have effected Armstrong mentally and physically. I would be in favour of a trade while his value is still that of a "promising youngster." If we leave him too long on our list without getting a go then his value would decrease. That is unless he has a great 2005 and we won't need to trade him at all.

We can't get rid of Jolly or Jamar until we get more ruckmen in our stocks. We only have 3.

I have been a big fan of Arma, though he has had a pretty ordinary year - was it injury or mental - a bit long after the event to still primarily blame Bali - maybe, just maybe, homesick. Hasn't come on as expected.

With Sylvia and McLean coming along OK he may find it hard to get a run - therefore as pointed out above, he MAY be still valuable as a trade with a WA club.
