Same.

So far the running between wickets has been ultra smooth and realistic.

The fielders all have amazing arms, though, so any running on the throw is suicidal.

If you've hit the ball the deep then you can generally come back for a third run if your batsmen start running just as the fielder picks up the ball. It takes a fair while for the throw to get back.

Just completed a test match.

Made 9/601 DEC.

Katich made 367 N.O

Yet I didn't get a single trophy for 100 runs, 200 runs, 300 runs, or for making a team score of 600 runs.

What a waste of time that was.

Did you simulate at all? Because you don't get the achievement if you do.

I don't understand why people say it's a waste of time if you don't get some lame ass achievement.

My created leg spinner whose bowling is rated 61 bowled an absolute gem of a leg break, pitched very wide outside off stump and just ripped sideways and took out leg stump.

I didn't simulate at all, no.

It is disappointing, considering there isn't enough stats in this game, the trophies/achievements are the only thing tracking your progress.

When you play for many hours to complete a test and just manage to make it to 600 (I lost 9 wickets) only to not have it acknowledged, feels a bit pointless.

I just did some research.

Apparently, trophies/acheivements arent awarded if you edit the teams before a game.

Playing as Australia, I changed Englands team a bit as Flintoff bats at No11 by default in the game, which is another ridiculous oversight.

So I got punished for that.

What platform are you playing on?

On the 360 the fielders all have rocket arms, and even sometimes manage to return the ball on the full (and accurately) when throwing from the boundary whilst off balance.

It's very, very risky to run on the fielders arm, at least in the 360 version.

I edited the teams (added Clark for Watson and Harmison for Panesar, and moved Hussey to four and Flintoff to 6) and was still able to get achievements, including fastest 50, fastest 100, 100 partnership, a century and five wickets.

I'm assuming that was to a left hander??

7km/h over is sooooooo unrealistic? Since when?

Been thinking of trading in Prototype and some cash towards this, is it worth doing that deal or am I better off keeping Prototype?

Get cricket. If you aren't even playing Prototype you might as well trade it in, the game is pretty average anyway.

I'm not sure why more people don't take advantage of EB's 7 day rule instead of whinging about buying a crap game which you hardly play.

I had a ball like that, only it wasn't me bowling it was the AI, and Graham Swann (Who is insanely hard to bat against BTW, smashed me for 5/4 in my first match:eek:).

The ball was set way outside off stump (At least a foot or two). I was batting with Stuart Clark (Granted not the best batsman in the world). Swann bowls it and it's heading down the off side to go to the keeper for an easy take and in the air it seems to hit an air pocket or something and cuts right back onto the stumps (This is in the air, it bounces and spins, but not a huge amount), of course I wasn't looking to play at the ball because it wasn't going NEAR the wickets but it managed to move massively in the air and I left it and smash go the wickets. Was majorly pissed at that.

I think I will.

Game have a deal on, trade in one game(on the list) and get it for $20.

Should have smashed it for 6. That's the only way he knows how to bat.
Can't time Swann for shit honestly. If I could hit 1 run I'd be ecstatic.

it gets easy once you learn how to time it. THere is one bowler I've had trouble with (on hard) and thats that little hairy midget from Sri Lanka who rips them in on a 90 degree angle. He is blody hard to time. I just had to keep edging it to the boundary.

Maybe it is a PS3 only glitch?

I just started another test and it is now awarding me trophies as I go.

I edited Australia (my team) but left England alone.

I'm really having issues with the spinners.

It could be because i haven't faced many of them, but basically every time i play a shot on the off side of the wicket i edge it to the keeper.

I have no problem with the quicks (or the spinners when playing on the on side), but spinners outside off do me in instantly.

Hopefully it's just a timing issue.

I will mention one thing that worked well for me.

Advancing down the pitch to spinners, seemed to be able to time the ball really well against them when doing that. Obviously will want to pick the right balls to advance to, but advancing worked really well in timing the ball properly.

Maybe give that a go?

I just bowled my first innings on hard against South Africa. I literally got anal-r*ped... badly. The Proteas scored 426 runs off 43.1 overs with a final run rate of 9.87rpo, getting as high as 11rpo when the middle order were in. Despite bowling at my absolute best (and sticking with the yellow guideline the game provides), the Proteas scored a whopping 64 boundaries including 54 fours and 10 six's. No matter how well I bowled, they could hit any ball for four. Even when I bought out the spinners (who when combined with good field placement should have had the batsman thinking twice about their shots), they didn't seem to have a care in the world about being caught deep. I did manage to get 5 caught wickets, but they were all in the infield, particularly around square leg and backward point. The other 5 wickets were run outs, as expected *deep sigh*.

So after bowling my first innings on hard, I have some things to add to my list of issues that I've encountered:

  • The difference in confidence between batsman and bowlers is unbalanced. It seems so much harder to keep a bowlers confidence up than a batsman's. I've noticed many times that if a bowler gets in the 'timid' range, they're likely to stay there for the entire match. You'd have to just about get a hat-trick to lift their confidence. On the other hand, batsman can easily raise their confidence by defending and leaving balls. And if they get into the 'fearless' range, it's extremely hard for them to come down as they hit every second ball to the boundary. :(
  • Edges just don't carry. I reckon I had about 20 edges when bowling and not one of them carried to the slips. Even with a fast bowler bowling at 150kph, the ball always hits the ground well short of a fielder.
  • Run outs are still far too prevalent. AI batsman occasionally attempt a run when the ball is coming in from a fielder, which almost always results in a run out. It's enough for 5 run outs in an innings!
  • The whole coloured aiming reticule thing. I have a feeling that the ball placement doesn't determine the shot selection of the batsman, but the colour of the reticule. You can bowl what you think is a perfect length, but because the game says it isn't you will get hit for six. I think this is the main reason why LBW's are so rare. You can get that perfect line & length that a real life bowler would, but because you're outside of the yellow area the batsman will strike at the ball as if it were pitched short and wide. As a pace bowler, the only yellow areas (that I know of) are off stump, full and short. Does this mean that there is no ideal way to bowl straight at the stumps without bowling a yorker?
  • Still a few glitches that need sorting. I attempted a catch in the gully and timed it perfectly in the green circle, yet the catch was dropped.

Got my batting innings coming up next. I'm going to get smacked around by Steyn's 'fearless' confidence thanks to his 73no earlier in the day. *facepalm*

EDIT: Oh and by the way, how super-awesome is Cameron White? He has a higher bowling rating than any other Australian spinner! Who needs Hauritz or Krezja when you have White! xD
