I better ask a serious one. :(

How important do people think the position switching in Supercoach is? I don't really have anything to take advantage of it, but I dunno how important it will be.

I have zero interest in it to be honest. Its going to depend on each person's strategy, as I can see many good players trying to use it effectively.

Im going in with the exact same strategy as I have the last two years. Any major injuries I get I will simply have to use a trade. Even if you can swap positions, an injured player is still going to be injured. Being able to put him on the bench in the forward line, still means hes going to be sitting there doing nothing.

Thats just what I think. :thumbsu:

How up tight are the people who run SC and BigFooty posters about having 2 sides?

with the BF league, Saints BF league, my mates league, cricket club league and work league i need to have two teams so i can be in all the leagues i want to be in.

My teams will be exactly the same if that makes any difference.

And for major injuries that's what most people would do. Where I think swapping players could be of benefit are for short term injuries and suspensions, especially in areas where the rookies aren't as strong. So if a forward premium goes down for a week or two you could move Chapman from the mids to the forward line to cover him because you assume that your mid bench players (Trengove, Martin) are likely to score more than your forward bench players. I haven't had a good look at who can play where and gone through the permutations and combinations but I think it can be useful giving you more control over which rookies cover any given short term injury.

In previous seasons I would usually have had someone like Chapman up forward, but I think it could be handy having a dual player or two in the midfield this year.

My random question: what kind of split between premiums/midprice/rookies do people have in their back, midfield and forward lines? I'm wondering if I've done too strongly down the premiums/rookies route so want to compare. :)

I am going with 4 premiums in defense, one mid range player, one cheapy and a rookie

Mids I am going 3 premiums, one mid range (cooney) and 2 rookies

Rucks I have one premium and one mid range

Forwards I have 3 premiums, one mid range, 2 lower mid range players and one rookie.

Hope that gives you an idea Dianod. ;)

If you don't care about the prizes, then it is not an issue. Just set up your second team with your wife's email address.

If you still want to claim prizes, then i'm not sure how vigilant they on these matters.

I have seen teams with 5 rookies starting but 2-4 is more common. It really depends on how you rate the rookies.

My tip is to focus more on the number of rookies starting in your overall team rather than look for a quota of rookies in each position. It helps you focus in on the best rookies available instead of scratching around to find your 1 token rookie defender who has to start because you only want 1 starting in your mids (for example).

Shhhh dont comment any further on the above.

Is it worth taking in players who are suspended for round 1? I am keen on Mark McVeigh as a mid-price mid and also Buddy. It is unlikely that I would risk both, replacing them with rookies could lose me 100+ in week 1 and put me behind the 8-ball overall.

Having a good bench rookie is easy to replace McVeigh for rd1. Guys like Martin, Morabito, Trengrove are all going to play you would think and there are also guys like Lucas, Rohan, etc who could debut in rd 1.

With Buddy having the MPP can make it safe to have him out and not drop too much. Tippett in the Ruck, a mid like Pavlich or Goodes.

If overall score is your thing maybe dont go for both but the real stuff starts after rd 3. And its a long season missing 100 points this week could be worth it if McVeigh and Buddy have great seasons

Question

Can i get some advice on something that is bugging me please.

I have my backs and forwards all set, no problems there, however, i want some thoughts on the ruck/mid set up.

I have Goodes in my midfield, and Kruezer as 1st ruck. Together, thats about $1.1m. I was wondering if you think it's better to maybe downgrade Goodes with Cooney and upgrade Kruezer to Sandilands?

Yes, it's better :thumbsu:

Kruezer seems to be staying more up forward and may drop his average while Cooney seems underpriced.

Yes im in the same boat as you they should have 6 leagues at least, but they dont so you, me and many other people have to have 2 teams in some cases 3 and because of this SC looks like it has got alot more people playing it than it actually does.

If they had more leagues their numbers would drop which would be no good for them so i do not believe it will change but i wish it did, im not sure y the people at SC r being so uptight about it, it is blokes like us that r making their game look more popular than what it is which surely helps them out.

Cash leftover?

I'm keen to get some thoughts on how much money people are having left over. Is there any certain strategies to this? I think last year i only left a little bit and it hurt when a player was injured, their value dropped so my replacement was a downgrade. at the moment i've only got $200 left over but am pretty happy with my side.

do i want $100k kicking around or is this just a waste? 50K? 20K?

Cheers

I will attempt to get the best 30 players I can with the cash I have available. If that leaves me with $1k or $100k left over, so be it. I'm thinking $1k is more likely though. If I use all my cash and get my choices right, I will have no need for spare cash as my players will be making it AND scoring me more points than if I saved it up.

Re: Cash leftover?

i got $300 left:cool: last year i started with about 250K and that was no good always chasing the 8 ball the idear was i could upgrade fast but it didn't work that way:confused:

Re: Cash leftover?

Laterally thinking, $10m = 3,000 points. If they're all firing. Therefore, 1t's about $3,300 per point. $100k in the bank = about 30 points. Multiply that by each round that you have that money sitting in the bank.

It's not that simple I know but I'll spending as much as I can.

Re: Cash leftover?

if you're happy with your team you should leave it. no point downgrading someone to get extra cash in the bank.
